Will only launch vanilla brawl...

Haven't tried launching/updating since 3.02. However, it did work then. Today I've tried launching 3.5 and 3.6b through the homebrew launcher, and instead I get vanilla brawl. I know I'm following the steps correctly: download .zip, extract to SD (FAT32), put SD in wii, launch through homebrew. So why am I launching vanilla brawl?
