Ya know this issue has running in my mind for quite a while, and wouldn't it be cool if Nintendo not just release every character original amiibo figures, what if they also release diferent palatte swaps of amiibo figures? Or even limited edition?

Come and express your ideas!

Maybe some limited-edition ones, but not all of them. As cool as it would be, it'd cost too much to make them all.

I don't doubt there will be special or limited edition amiibos at some point, but I do doubt that they'll make them specifically for the alternate costumes in Smash. :p

Why not? It may not happen but I really want a fire Mario amiibo figure. And if my friend also got a Mario figure then we can just know whos by just looking at the colors!

I can see alternate costumes that change the characters model, like Little Mac's, or the different gender Robin or Wii fit Trainer being sold as special edition Amiibo, but I would never see just palette swaps as Amiibo.

I don't think Nintendo would want to make different versions of the same character as it would cost a lot of money to make more Amiibos.

I don't think that changing colors will cost that much, and if Mr. G&W is confirmed he will have the amiibo fgure with the lowest budget:laugh:.

Lets just hope G&W is confirmed...also, fire Mario is one of my favorite recolors, but I hope there's a......crimson Yoshi.

Limited edition at best. But with each character having several palette swaps/costumes, and the roster could very well hit 50+...I don't see it happening.

Just having Amiibos based on the default look is the best and safest option to go with imo.

Is this really a question? No...There will be one Smash Mario, Peach, etc. There will not be blue shirt brown pants Mario. Quote me.

That's like expecting the Mario Kart amiibos have more than one kart combination.

It doesn't make sense. Especially from a business standpoint. Why would you make Mario compete with himself? If Blue Mario sells more than Red Mario, then Red Mario is worth less, then becoming worthless. Now Nintendo would have Red Mario sitting on the shelf and that makes them no profit.

Remember the Wii U? White is STILL trying to be pushed out of stores and warehouses because it sold less than the Black model. AND it was cheaper.

This won't happen. Sorry.

They might be custom-painted-to-order, like Mii Amiibos. Who knows.

I'm probably just going to be re-painting some Kirby Amiibos. Hopefully you can set a specific costume for an Amiibo to use, so I can have different Amiibos for the same character, with different stats and such, differentiated by color.

It would be cool if they released a paint set or something.
But yeah, I'd totally buy a Pikachu with the goggles or something of that sort. Will they do it? Um...idk, likely not.

Maybe only for alternate costume ones? Though different palette swamps and alternate costumes should be an option to change ingame without having to purchase another one just for a model swap

Would be easier to have power discs like Disney Infinity does for alternate costumes. In DI 2 there will costume discs, so this concept could carry over to Amiibo.

Not just costumes, but it would be a easy way to cash-grab Nintendo fans with discs offering different items and powerups that can be universal to most games. :awesome:

Should they? Eh, would be cool.

Will they? Almost certainly not, though I could see certain ones (Dr Mario, Male Fit Trainer, Robina) being released since they're kinda characters in their own right.

This would actually be cool, following in DI's/DI 2.0's steps.

To be fair, I could see some limited edition special colorations of Amiibos being released. But they'd probably be at inflated prices due to their rarity, and hopefully they'd have something a little extra (like a nice little card or case, but hopefully something unique to their functionality). But I don't see it being because of Smash Bros, more to commemorate something

Assuming you are not suggesting they should release alternate costumes via Amiibo, then possibly. Male Wii Fit Trainer and Female Villager deserve some sort of Amiibo representation too.

I can see people painting their Amibo for their own customization and I can see this becoming a subculture in smash. Who has the most amibo swag.

I would say no, but maybe if the character has an alt. like Dr. Mario or Diddy would have a Dixie alt. Even then I highly doubt it, because they Sakurai would probably make most alts. different characters anyway.

I highly, highly doubt it. Adding more to the production line for a different colour seems silly. As people have suggested, maybe canon colours like fire Mario, but that'd be it.

The figures will sell well, so yes, at least as limited editions.

From a production standpoint, it makes no sense to make different colored amiibos. The most you can expect are Hii Fit Trainer, Fem!Robin, and Fem!Villager.

So, some characters like Villager and Wii-fit trainer could still have male and female amiibo figures, and Lucina would have one too, but alternate colors probably not.

I would LOVE a pink hoodie mac amiibo... but i already plan on collecting ALL of them and thats going to cost me a LOT for the full roster, with alt costumes... I better start picking up some more hours at work.

I'd be all up for variants, but it'll just take more of my money :p

I know however that with Funko Pop's a lot of people have fun editing them with putty and paint, I expect there to be a group dedicated to Amiibo too in that respect.

The amiibo figures are used across multiple games. If you buy a Mario amiibo then you can use it with smash, mk8, and any other amiibo compatible game. Seems like making smash-specific amiibos would go against the business plan of ubiquity.
