Will Miiverse be able to differentiate itself from Battlefield as a legal stage?

Or will it end up being treated like the Omegas due to it nearly being a carbon copy?

I tried to make an image comparing the two with Megaman as the size control.

Here, we see it sport a flat understage, and platforms slightly closer together horizontally. Vertically, the platforms may be a few pixels wider from each other.

To me, just by having larger/smaller blast zones should be enough to differentiate itself from battlefield

Note- Many melee stages are only a few differences away from being carbon copies as well, except for a few (material) differences.

Some Omega stages have walls on the edges, while some are floating platforms. Also, some Omega Stages have grass on them, which increases traction.

Unless this stage has different blast zones, I don't think it'll differentiate itself from Battlefield anymore then Omega Stages differentiate from each other. At least, not as far as match ups are concerned.

But that said, we can't be certain about blast zones yet, can we?

What I'm hoping is that the Battlefield layout was just a placeholder and they will actually have either a different layout (like Warioware's or something) or have some kind of mechanic where the messages from the background fly in and act as platforms.

That would be neat, but given their track record, what is on preview is likely what will show up in actuality. But yeah a different or dynamic platform layout would be really neat

This is the sort of question we have no way of answering until we get some sort of detailed sneak peak or the stage is actually added to the game.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me if they just quietly scrapped the idea since having to sort all those Miiverse posts by character isn't something they can really do automatically, I think.

Considering we haven't heard about miiverse or tournament mode in a while, it could definitely be gone.

Would be nice to have another simplistic yet dynamic stage like town and city though.

I highly doubt they scrapped it given the fact they had a working template in the preview as well as a few tracks ready for it. I hope it comes out by the Lucas release

I dont think they scrapped it because of the way they announced it. Also is it just me or does the top platform of miiverse seem a bit lower than bf`s?

Nintendo not talking about something doesn't mean it's scrapped. We didn't hear about SMTXFE for like 3 years after it was announced. They are probably just working on filtering the posts that appear in the background.

At least this stage wont go through day/night cycles... i think that's the most annoying part of battlefield for me in this one.

So last I heard, Miiverse was confirmed to be part of the Lucas update, although whether it's free as part of the "add Lucas data to the game" patch or paid as part of the "get to use Lucas" DLC is still a question. Either way I intend to make a thread about it ASAP once I have access to it.

If it's paid DLC, they probably would of listed it as such. I'm pretty sure it's free.

Most players who would pick an Omega know specific ones they like for whichever reasons (walls, ledge shape, blast zones, aesthetics, whatever). If Miiverse's platforms are different from Battlefield's, that alone will give rise to preference. It needs to go through the same review process as the rest. That said, it's still a "flat+plat" archetype, and odds are pretty good if it were added to stage selection on a hyper-conservative ruleset, we'd see no benefit except perhaps more stages ending up on Battlefield or FD instead of Smashville.

Personally, I hope Miiverse summons giant versions of fighters all the miiverse users keep whining about. Giant Ridley made of people whining about Ridley. Occasionally summons King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Issac, etc. etc. It would be the most glorious Sakurai troll of all time.

But, still, Flat + Plat. Same way Omega stages work with FD most likely.

This is similar to the Final Destination and omega stage debate.
Can the omega stages differentiate themselves from Final Destination?
I posted a thread on the subject here: How Omega Stages Should be Treated in Competitive Play. I proposed my classification system that I posted her: Omega Stage Categories and Blueprint Data.
There we came up with idea that omega stages should be treated the same way as Final Destination. They are all one stage. Final Destination is chosen as the starter, if the looser chooses final destination as a counter pick they can choose any omega stage they want and they can use my classification system as a way to help categorize each omega stage easily without being overwhelmed with the large selection of omega stages.if Final Destination is eliminated so are omega versions.

I think if the blast lines are extremely similar or exactly the same Miiverse should be the categorized as the same as Battlefield, if chosen as a counter pick the looser gets to choose between Battlefield and Miiverse. if Battlefield is eliminated so is Miiverse.

What do you think? Is this a good idea?

Seriously!?! This is interesting to know. So then could this miiverse stage have less traction than battlefield?
Or does battlefield already have the lowest traction?

AFAIK there is two "levels" of traction, grass or not-grass, and since Miiverse doesn't look like it has grass on it I'd imagine the traction would be the same.
