I have Brawl+ installed, and just bought PES 2009 for Wii. An update is needed to play the game, so I want to know if there's a problem running it. Wii ver 3.3U here. Thx for the help.

Don't update, boot the game with GeckoOS to skip the disc update

Does the game require an update, or does it require an update? You can try loading it through geckoOS to skip the update and see if it will load. Some games require a newer IOS in order to run, though most don't, from what I've seen.

It is generally recommended never to update if you have homebrew, as essentially, there is always a way around whatever limits nitendo wants to put in place if you're on the lower system menu versions. Updating to 4.0 kills a lot of homebrew functionality, patching several exploits in the wii firmware that various homebrew applications require, although the HBC will still be able to run geckoOS. Also, if you ever accidentally remove the HBC on a 4.0 system, there's no way to get it back, as it blocks the twilight hack. In the event that the game actually requires a newer IOS to run properly, Chibo wrote a guide for safely updating to the 4.0 system menu, found here. You should still try booting it with geckoOS first, though, because if it loads with that then you're set.

Any chance of error? ._. ( because a want to play on Disk Channel >.< )
There shouldn't be any errors but, if there is one, it's because it requires new IOS to run. Just boot it through Gecko OS to see though if it works, if it does, you don't have to worry about updating it. =\

The update will try to run regardless of if you have the proper IOS installed, afaik. You have to load through geckoOS to bypass the update. It's only a few extra steps, and isn't that big of a deal. Loading through geckoOS will block the update from loading, but will load the rest of the game normally. The only reason you would encounter a problem would be if you need a newer IOS installed to play the game. If you don't have the proper IOS to play a game, it won't even load, so you'll know if this is a problem or not pretty quickly. Just try loading it through geckoOS already.

That means you need the cIOS version of Gecko OS to run it, which, I don't think is available to the public. Igglyboo has it but, I also believe that the new Gecko that comes out will allow you to run newer games easily...

Almost forgot I have a modchip for update protection, that would be why it's different for me >_>

That means it needs its proper IOS installed as well.

It's probably IOS36-64-v1042.wad, so look for that, install it (WAD Manager), and you'll be good.

Alright, then you have a few options. 1) Follow chibo's guide that I linked earlier to safely upgrade your wii while still having the ability to downgrade if necessary. Or 2) search for "softmii" on google, which includes everything and more of what you could need or want.
