Wii Redesign

I redesigned the Wii for s design class, so I figured I'd post it. What's not going to happen is what happened last time. This will remain civil. I will find you IRL and poop in your oven and turn it on bake, but what I won't do is allow this thread to spiral out of control into failure town.

I wanted to take the Wii from this friendly kiddy direction it has been going into the land of badassery. So I went with a very angular aesthetic with a lot of aggressive corners.

I went with red and black to drive home the aggressive angle. On the side, there is a fin that folds out so that when it is vertical it widens the foot print for stability so you won't need a crappy extra stand piece. The fan venting is a series of triangles, reminiscent of the triforce, but not directly driven by it. The GCN ports are on the top, with that area being red to add a color pop when closed, and add some surprise when the port door is opened.

I'll probably take this further when I get the time, adding more details and showing off how **** works.

I also did a shoe, if anyone is interested.

Any feedback is appreciated, from aesthetics (form, color, layout, etc.), to functionality (the fin, GCN ports, buttons, ports, venting, etc.), and any other comments you have.

I don't really like the colors. They don't scream, "Nintendo" to me. Maybe a limited edition color or something, but... idk, colors could be different. Not sure what exactly.

Yeah, I didn't really think about branding it as a Nintendo product, just having fun with it. IF you want to suggest some colors, by all means. You could just post images of things you think have good color composition.

I wanted to get away from white because ever since the i-pod came out everything is white, and white is boring if it doesn't have something else. I might end up doing white with color accents.

I can see that being pretty awesome. I'll see what I can do with what I have, but it will be a pain in the *** to change black to white without re-rendering the 3-D model, but even that won't take that much effort.

3-D modeling in Alias 2010, rendering in Hypershot.

Then, I did an extraordinary amount of Photoshop work to punch up the contrast.

Just a simple inversion. Notice the vent triangles are now white and the lighting is reversed. Regardless, it's the color you wanted.

I don't plan on selling these...also, I'm pretty sure the Wii is copyrighted all together...

I think it's really nice, it looks like a powerhouse console and from the side, like a jacked up gamer's PC.

It would actually fit in really well aesthetically with my all black electronics hookup, right now the blinding white of the Wii is a real eyesore.

Good stuff, Nintendo should make Wii 2 feel like this in design, lol.
