Are there any particular SD cards, or LAN adapters that are best for the Wii. I'm getting some stuff ready for Brawl? thanks for the help in advance.

Official ones are usually best.

Unfortunately they're also the most expensive.

how about the official wii sd card and the official wii lan adapter?
I'll agree on official lan adapter, only because I don't know of any others off the top of my head that would work.

However, it's just stupid to buy the Wii SD card. It costs like $40 or more, whereas a standard one costs a lot less. I bought an ULTRA 2gb SD card a few weeks ago for $15 plus $3 shipping. Already tested it and it works perfectly fine.

im aware that the wii sd card is more expensive and a standard one could work just as well, i was just attempting to give the most simple answer possible

Just keep in mind that the Wii only recognizes up to 2 GB for SD cards. Any any brand will do, in that respect.

As for the LAN adapter, well, the official one is both relatively inexpensive, simplistic to use and it does its job well enough. I'd recommend it.

While in most cases, simple is the best answer, this guy didn't specify whether he was looking for compatibility or price. Compatibility obvious always leans towards official products, but with the Wii's SD cards, the unofficial ones works 100% as well as the official, so it would always be best to save some money. ;)

As far as the LAN adapter goes, however, I don't even think there are 3rd party ones, so unfortunately paying the full price for the official might be the only way right now...

Learn to eBay is my best opinion to you sir.

I got the official Nintendo lan and an unofficial sandisk 2gb sd card together for under $25 total(this includes shipping).

Datel, the guys who made action replay, have a lan adapter as well, although I would never suggest buying anything from them, ever.

I had to buy the nintendo one online after theirs didn't work. They're the same price, anyway.

And just for fun, try talking to their customer service, or contact them in any way. You can't.

So just make sure to avoid it, at least.

Yep, get the LAN adapter if you need it, but definitely don't buy official SD cards, they're ripoffs. I got mine from newegg for like $15 (2GB) a while ago.

Off brand works fine, I got my Lan adapter for 10 bucks off of amazon and it works like a charm... assuming it doesn' break lol I've onbly had it for a week.

All SD cards work there's no way that a Wii SD card can work any better than a normal one.

I call BS on this statement.

I'm using the exact same Lan adaptor, and it works perfectly. Their product quality is good. The only third party company you should avoid is mad catz, as the product is typically defective or becomes defective over a brief use period.

If you can't get the official Nintendo LAN adaptor, go with Datel. It works just fine.

Actually, on the SD cards, those come in different speeds. The official card does not have the speed labeled (and when I tried to find it, no one knew how fast it was). However, the Wii has a SD slot with the max read/write speed an SD card can have, so if you pay a little more for a high end 133x card, it may make a difference when transferring things and using the card. I paid $40 and got a card that is probably twice as fast as the official one.

If transfer speed doesn't matter to you, then any card would do, just go for 2gb at least, not worth it to get less.

Ok, do NOT go with the Wii branded SD card. It's overpriced by a lot. SanDisk, Kingston, OCZ are all respected memory card manufacturers. Buy from them. Do NOT buy your SD card on eBay, a large number of them are fake. A 2GB card should cost you $20 max. I got a SanDisk Ultra II for $20.

Get the Nintendo or Datel Wii Lan adapter.
