Ah ok makes sense. I have another question, though, this one may be related to issues further over here on my end, but I attempted to load Gecko OS witht the physical Brawl Disc copy in my vWii. 1.9.3 Gecko told me that I may have been using too many codes. Haven't tried vPM without the code in the codeset, so that may be a workaround but other than Legacy TE being a modified version of PM I can't see what the problem for loading "too many codes" would be. Thanks in advance and [Mods] if this question is asked in the wrong thread, move it or notify me of where this question should be appropriated.
If you're playing Legacy TE, take the gc.txt file in the LegacyTE folder, copy it to the root of the sd card and rename it to gameconfig.txt. That should be fix the too many codes problem.

A 1.0 release is still on its way, I've just been stuck on debugging crashes/failures.
Things should be ready once the todo list on the github repo is empty.

But, since things are taking so long, here's a beta GCT version of the code, should it be helpful to anyone:

That'll probably still only work when launched from Gecko OS, but there ya go.
I tried launching a build with this code with GeckoOS and the game instantly froze before even loading the strap screen. This could have been something else on my end, haven't played around with it much but I just wanted to report that.

It didn't. Because the gameconfig.txt file is in the root of PM builds by default. I have the patch folder on the root as well as the code in my codeset. Is it the hook type? I'm not sure how to get Gecko to respond to Project M on VWill. Even Default Vanilla 3.6 says "too many codes"
Could someone maybe make a video tutorial?

If playing Legacy TE, use the gameconfig.txt that came with that build and not the vanilla PM one. They are different between the two versions.

The hook type I just keep on default. Make sure SD File Patcher and SD Cheats are both set to yes and click Save Config before going back.

If all the files are set up correctly, then there shouldn't be anything else you need to do.

I know not to use Vanilla PMs. What I'm saying is that virtually every build now days come with their respective gameconfig.txt for said build. I didn't modify or change anything (as there is no need to).

I think my problem is that whenever I put the code in the RSBE01.gct (the one that goes in the "codes" folder) the build won't even work all together (even through the launcher). It just boots me back to vWii menu. When I remove the code, everything works fine again (and i've recopied the code to make sure it wasn't an error on my end) so either (which has always been my theory) codes do no like me, I have a faulty WiiU/SD Card that only works with regular builds without adding codes (which doesn't make sense) or it just wasn't meant for me in particular to brawl mod.

Since I'm such an adolescent in coding, would anyone be kind enough to upload a video tutorial (step by literal step)? Because I feel like whenever I follow things perfectly, nothing ever seems to work on my end and it's the most frustrating thing on the planet.

Oh, you're using the code version. That may be the problem then. I'm not sure if that code actually works yet.

If you haven't tried it yet, I would just stick with the gpf patch file linked in the first post of the thread and not use the code version for now.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure if those lines were open for public use so I eagerly popped them into my build hungry for some GCC Legacy TE endless friendlies (great practice code).

The default one loads through gecko and its finally reading the codes but the entire build is vbrawl but buggy lol.

If you're getting Vanilla Brawl, then something's messed up in the way you have the files on the sd card set. Make sure it's not one of these things.

-Make sure you're using a 2GB or less sd card.
-Make sure you have a codes folder on the root of the sd card with the correct gct file in it.
-Make sure you took the gc.txt file from the LegacyTE folder, copied it to the root of the sd card and renamed it to gameconfig.txt.
-Make sure you are using Legacy TE's gameconfig.txt and not vanilla Project M's or another build's.
-Make sure SD File Patcher and SD Cheats are both turned on in Gecko OS's config options with everything else on default settings and that you save these settings before starting the game.
-If it's still not working after all that, try loading the build using the normal Legacy TE launcher and make sure that works. If not, then you may have a faulty sd card.

Worked great on both vanilla Brawl and PM. But, since I'm having Disc Reading problems, I'm waiting for the version that works with the USB loader!

Hello, Smashboards!

Today, I present to you:
Wii GCA Inject, a hack which will finally allow you to use gamecube controllers in Brawl/PM, through the official Wii U Gamecube Controller Adapter. I've been silently developing this for about a year, until my cover was blown, causing me to come out of hiding, after years of lurking.

Let me know how it worked for you! :D
Hello there! :)
First off, let me say that its amazing that you made this hack. I just wanted to report that it has been working just fine for me on my Wii U and using the GPF version (mostly because I don't know how to add this into the Project M GCT. If someone could tell me how I can use this hack with PM I would appreciate it.) on my 16gb SDHC Card. I've read some reports on Homebrew and Gecko OS not working on SDHC Cards but everything has worked on my card just fine.

Great to know it's working to some capacity!

So, a quick explanation of the situation here:
In order for the current (admittedly quite old) version of this hack to work, it can't be launched from the official PM launcher. This is because said launcher does some fancy stuff to make SDHC cards compatible with Project M's file replacement codes. (I.E. it launches the game with IOS58 or IOS60 iirc) That fancy stuff happens to also change the way USB works internally, which screws up the gamecube adapter code. I've been working to fix this issue, but progress is slow.

So basically, until I finish updating the code, you need a 2GB or less SD card in order to use this hack with PM, rather than just vanilla Brawl.

(btw Gecko OS is the only launcher that knows how to use .GPFs anyway, but this isn't the main problem, since I posted a gecko code version of the hack earlier in this thread.)

I gotta lotta faith in you. GCC support for PM (and Brawl) on all region Wii U's would be really awesome for the PM community since a lot of possible newcomers don't have a (functional) Wii anymore.

Hey there. So for some reason, I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get this working with hackless Project: M v3.6. I've been able to get it working for vanilla Brawl, but for some reason, not with this. How do I go about getting it to work?

Pretty sure it's cause you don't have an SD Card smaller than 2 gigs. That was my problem.

It has to be under 2 gigs? My SD card is exactly 2 gigs. That's pretty odd if so, since I can get it working fine with vanilla Brawl.

Edit, nevermind, I got it to work. Didn't launch it through Gecko OS.

Do you plan to release the 0.2/1.0 version anytime soon? Or is it already available?

Let me know how it worked for you! :D

Features:
  • Seamlessly replaces behaviour of original gamecube controller ports.
  • Supports hotplugging of adapters. (Please, for the love of heck, don't try plugging in two adapters at once...)
  • Works on vanilla Brawl, Project M (and smashladder edition), and probably most other mods!
Known bugs:
  • PM debug mode doesn't work; this is because of the way the debug
codes get button input, and is not likely to be fixed any time soon. (If ever)
  • Around the time of the first match in any particular play session, the game
usually lags for up to a second or two. I haven't confirmed the cause of this
bug, or even if it's affecting anyone but me. (Again, this is a beta)
Download / "where's the gecko code?"
NOTE: The current beta only works with a physical disc, when launched from Gecko OS. A GCT version is in the works, and already mostly functional. This post will be updated as soon as it's ready. Still tracking down USB loader bugs!
Download link: v0.1 (beta)
This hack doesn't use a gecko code yet!
Rather, I've implemented this in the form of a GPF. This means that you can use this with other hacks (PM) without editing the GCT. It also means that you can install it with a single copy/paste.
If you're curious about the technical details of the seemingly forgotten GPF format, check out the documentation I made.

Btw, Huge thanks to the hackers around here! You may not have realized it, but you (among others) pretty much mentored me throughout this entire hacking endeavor. :D

(P.S. Since this is my first thread, I naturally have to say that I'm eternally sorry if this is the wrong forum.)
How's the GCT version coming along?

I put the Patch on my Hackless Project M Mod with Waluigi in it. I doesn't work and My Gamecube Controller adapter for the Wii U has 2 USB Plugs on it

Hello, everyone!
Yeah, so I got burnt out on this project and forgot about it for like a year, but I'm now looking into it again, to see if I can finish what I started.
Basically the GCT version is... well, I successfully formatted the code into a GCT, prior to the year-long hiatus, but it was left with critical issues regarding IOS and the internal USB code. Trying to fix these issues are what stalled development completely, so that's what I'm working on now.
All development can be seen on the github repo, and I'll try to leave updates in this thread; hopefully we'll see a v1.0 release before too long.
Sorry to keep you all waiting!

Welcome back! Yesterday I just randomly thought "What if someone has been working on a method for GC-controllers for brawl on wiiu" and google brought me here. It all seem a bit techy for me atm but hopefully I'll figure it out someday. ^^

Do you know if it's possible to get this working with PAL Brawl? It seems it doesn't work.

Theoretically that should be possible; you'd just need to replace a bunch of memory addresses that differ between regions. I intend to try this once I've got the code actually working properly. Until then, I'm afraid PAL discs simply won't work.

Also, while I'm here, I'll just mention real quick that development is still progressing. (slowly :p)

Heya, been lurking on this thread for awhile. I don't know too much about the technical know how for this to work but I was wondering if anyone has gotten this to work with games other than Brawl/any mod. I know that if you use Gecko OS through the homebrew channel you can boot into whatever disc is in the system. I wanted to try using this for the Virtual Wii to play a bunch of the Wii games that used GC Controllers. I saw earlier that PAL versions don't work because of regional code but do those memory addresses apply to the specific disc or to the region as a whole?

Does this work fine with PM launcher or other launchers like legacy?
