Iight I couldn't find a thread about this so if its somewhere could 1 of you mods link me up to it then close this.

Ok so whenever I have Wii Connect 24 turned on, my Wii tends to heat, and I sometimes say to myself now i don't wanna leave it on over night so i turn it off, so now is it really like this to everyone, and if the wii over heats over night if wii connect 24 is turned on, why would they make it, it is wii connect 24 meaning 24 hours a day. Any thoughts?

If you don't want your Wii to be in sleep mode, unplug it from the wall, that's what I do. I went a good two months without playing the thing but had it plugged in, touched it and said "holy crap" because it was so hot.

dude it won't heat up much over night, and if it does so what, i have my wii on 24/7 and no problems. I got it launch day and it's been unplugged like twice. You're not gonna have any problems.

It's not good for the hardware to remain hot all the time. You will eventually have problems if you keep it plugged in absolutely all the time. Sure, they aren't evident right now in the Wii's life, but down the road, when your Wii is breaking down and mine isn't, we'll see.

It's on 24/7. Even if your Wii is not on, it's still on.
So would you still be able to get messages from friends? I always thought it wouldn't since it probably needed to be on Stand-By to connect. Or will the messages just get sent to me as soon as I turn it on?

I would think so. They would be waiting there for you when you turn your Wii back on.

No idea about this, but a good question.

As far as turning off the Standby connection, you can either turn it off in the Wii settings, or hold the console's power button for 4 seconds when shutting down. Doing this will make the LED light red when powered down (like a Playstation 2). With the Wi-fi chip off, there isn't any noticeable heat output. It's more practical than unplugging the unit each time...

Ryoko, my Wii was on the red setting during the time I still had it plugged in. I stopped believing the "Wifi is disabled when the light is red" thing when my Wii lit up one night, whenever that last system update was. I was close to falling asleep and then I notice it's gotten a lot brighter in my room, open my eyes, my Wii is glowing bright blue. That is when I unplugged it.

I called Nintendo about it a while back because it was bugging me. They said that it's ok to leave it like that and it really doesn't get hot enough to cause problems.

there were some reports about people's wiis being damaged by the WC24's heat. apparently, the cooling fans just decided to quit. ahh the horror...

i leave my 24 off because, quite frankly, i don't see the point in leaving it on. i'll get those messages and updates eventually. and i have a dislike for leaving things on all the time.

My friend had that problem with her wii, she called Nintendo about it and they replaced it for free.

I have noticed it is pretty warm sometimes, but I never heard anything aside from my one friend's problem. I thought it was her fault (maybe it is), she had a similar problem with her XBOX 360 (I smelled her old XBOX 360, the air vents on it smelled like smoke)

I have it placed horizontally, and only the lower part heats when I leave it on.

However it kind of freaks me out a bit when it gets really hot. I may place it vertically, but the base looks so unstable...

Well, mine has been unplugged only once since i bought it(like half a week form launch), and spended like a day unplugged, since then its been always plugged, it is a bit hot in the bottom of the console, but not really overheated. So i dont think anything will happen to it :S
