I believe the "ds"icon stands for nintendo hardware, so the wii already has an icon. The only character that I can think of that can represent it is the Mii though

No, I don't. The only thing I can think of that would work as a generic Wii character rather than a game-specific one is Miis, and I think they're an utterly terrible idea.
