Wi fit and Mario Galaxy also a part of delaying smash?

Do you guys think that the fact that Nintendo releasing Super Mario Galaxy and Wi Fit around the same time as brawl also influenced the delay to february?

For example Nintendo did decide to showcase Wi fit at E3 instead of SSBB and was really interested on how the game would do. Nintedo invested alot of time into the game too and they could of decided to delay brawl in an attempt to make sure Wi fit would not be overshadowed by the SSBB hype.

The same story goes for Mario a lil bit 2 because if most people had a choice this christmas to buy a game and had Mario galaxy and SSBB to pick they would most likely pick SSBB. (I have mario galaxy it rules go buy it now) . Choosing to delay brawl is a Smart buisness move because it allows other games to get sold as much as possible before Brawl comes out. This is true because if Brawl did come out on dec 3rd Nintendo would sell fewer copies of Mario Galaxy and Wi fit, and wouldnt get to showcase their systems capabitlites as much as possilbe. (sorry for my horrible writting i just typed as i was thinking.)

P.S i guessed SSBB would be delayed the day they announced it for dec 3rd and im telling u Mario kart wont come out till 3rd or 4th quater next year.

:chuckle:

i think it was delayed simply because they are plannig on adding alot of new characters and stages... theres a thread on this somewhere, where it says Sakurai said there would be "more characters than you can imagine" or something like that

I think there's already a few more topics with this same subject. It's mainly because of Galaxy, but I guess Wii Fit could have been a factor in Japan. We still don't know when it's coming out here.

I just had an idea!

The delay is to program a 5th way to play: you will be able to use the WiiFit as an additional control input! Get a real workout from your Brawl matches! Stomp right to smash right, stomp left to smash left! Jump off the WiiFit to jump!

It's perfect!

Wii Fit? Had nothing to do with Brawl's delay.

Galaxy? Possibly. If the Wii wasn't the biggest success in gaming in the last 10 years, then maybe they would have rushed Brawl out for this holiday. Nintendo knew they had already suprassed their expectations, and they also knew that all they needed this holiday was Galaxy. That could have factored into it, but if it did only a little bit.

Nintendo hasn't announced that they're making a new zelda yet. BTW kirby wii is an original title BUT kirby ultra super deluxe for DS is a kirby superstar remake.

Yeah, they announced work on a new Zelda about a year ago. It's been in development since before TP was released, which is believable since TP was only delayed to be put on the Wii.

I don't care if there was some hidden reason, Sakarai already state he is utilizing the extra time to improve smash and add more stuff.

We will wait as long as it takes to make this game "The best fighting game of all time."

Or at least, "The most unique fighting game of all time."

No, we wont wait forever. We will wait until Holliday 08 or 5 months after Mario Kart Wii is released, whichever comes 2nd.

I had an optimism that it would be released in February, but ever since I saw it pushed out of holiday 07, I thought it strange. Why would you sell a very anticipated game right AFTER holiday season, when profits are not their highest?

You just made me remember that Brawl might be pushed back again though I hope not. Looking at the DOJO it seems Sakurai really did push it back for Galaxy, since we get absolutely NONE of this "new stuff" they're apparantly working on. Or mabye their waiting till January to give out the big stuff for hype after christmas, who knows, Im hoping for the latter.

Mabye they pushed it to February to count on Christmas money and gift cards (?) who knows. Or mabye they pushed it back because they really needed the time, but if I was a game develepor and had a game done by February, I would wait till the holidays or summer to release it.

I really don't think releasing them at the same time will hurt sells becuse ppl will just buy both.

summer is a terrible time to release a game. it's like gamings big drought and that's why you only get the big games right before summer or they start coming out towards the very end of it.

Agreed. But I think that Wii Fit isn't coming out until after Brawl's Release.
Actually, in Japan the Wii Fit is already out. Well ahead of Brawl. So perhaps this does have something to do with it, though the Japanese date was never moved back. At any rate I wouldnt blame Nintendo for spacing out their releases.

Dude, the Wii is doing so well I don't think Nintendo's worried about that at all. In their minds, they know they can release it whenever they want and it will still succeed beyond expectations.

The game is so open for them right now, they can pretty much do what they want. Honestly, I think that Sakurai requested more time and Nintendo was cool with it because they had pretty much everything in their favor already.

Nintendo: "Yeah go ahead. Take an extra 70 days. It's cool. We've got empty wharehouses everywhere and Mario Galaxy set for holiday '07. Take your time."

My guess is that their mentality is that Brawl is going to sell no matter what. I actually think its a smart move for them to release it after christmas, so that they can capitalize on sales for other Wii titles. The holiday influence really does not matter given the other previous SSB success. That being said it sucks, and I WANT TO PLAY NOW!!!@!@!@!@!@

Maybe everything the OP said is right, but in addition Sakurai is telling his crew to make some more characters.

I couldn't agree more. I mean, of course part of the delay was to add more stuff to the game, but seriously, it all about the benjamins/yen for Nintendo. It's fairly obvious that a kid is going to ask his mom for a game, and his mom is going to say "You can only get one for Christmas". Brawl is most likely going to be the choice, leaving Galaxy and Wii Fit in the ****ter.

Think of this strategy. Nintendo is going to pwn this holiday season mostly because of Galaxy, and a ton because of Wii Fit. Then, they pwn Q1 08 as well with Brawl's sales, considering MGS4 and GTAIV don't happen to be released at the same time.

Buy your Nintendo stocks now, people

Hmm. Also, when you think about it they're pretty much going to be sold out of Wii's from now until Christmas. That'll probably continue through Jan., so by the time Brawl comes out there will be more Wii's in homes than there would have been on Dec. 3rd. More Wiis owned = bigger market for Brawl.

brawl will be released Holliday 08, as i've stated before.
And you say this based on what?

I mean, I realize it's a possibility that it'll get delayed again. But what basis do you have for this other than "your gut"?

Eh, I just feel bad for any game that's coming out close to Brawl. Poor Mario Kart Wii and No More Heroes. :(
