I know as much about his chances as everyone else on this thread, which is to say nothing. I don't believe Sakurai will leave out characters anyway.

WHY would they even think of taking out characters??

I'm pretty sure Sakurai said some characters are leaving, particularly the clones. (they are the only ones that should leave.)
Pichu is a prime candidate to be cut.

Sakurai said some characters definitely are getting cut. But I'm pretty sure that means the obvious clones, such as Doc/Pichu/Roy and maybe YL or replace him...Not sure why we gotta repeat this all the time. The other that are suggested are only said because of their tier status. Sakurai isn't going to cut truly unique movesets, and he'll probably have those clones who were actually important return as well.

I'm too nice to say what I wanted to say...
but seriously, Pichu is the prime candidate to be cut. Don't come crying at our feet when he is cut. Sakurai gave a good warning.

Why would characters like Pichu and Doc return? There's nothing particularly special about them. They were added late to beef the roster. Roy, too, for that matter. I really don't think there will be any cutting beyond this.
I'm hoping for a Super Smash Bros game sometime down the line that inlcudes ALL the characters (albeit redone), levels and items from the previous games. Of course, they would update the looks of the levels a bit, but they'd be the same that we all know and love. Also, I know this will never happen, but I can dream dammit!

But I have to admit you kids are absolute masters at pretending to know more than you do, which is a spectacular feat as you know next to nothing. But, okay bash me for making an assumption while everyone else is doing the same, albeit different assumptions.

Okay, whatever... Call me all of your silly nicknames, but seriously Pichu's chances of making it back in are close to 0%, if he makes it back in we'll talk then, but I can pretty much assure you he'll be gone... He was a filler character.

The key difference between our assumptions and your assumptions is that yours contradict what Sakurai has said and ours don't.

Also i main G&W so i don't have any qualms about clones returning but i disagree with assumptions that low tiers (even if its very likely) will get the boot. i don't think that low tiers will get the boot just because they aren't very good. i think that the challenge of the game stems from how there shouldn't be a best character who owns all opponents no matter the skill of the player. the low tiers are just from people who weighed their abilities and discovered that their abilities aren't good (which has completely different meanings to people) and can't consistently win a match as much as other characters though this is dependent on the person who plays the character alot of the time. i personally have beaten a high tier character with a bottom/low tier character though the game it self depends on skill and how to use the characters. . also characters who are clones have different physics behind alot of their moves that the non-clones don't have.
The reasons why they would take out characters is because of popularity alot of the time.....(*note* this sort of ties in with tiers) but even if the character is a low tier but is still pretty popular he/she/it has a pretty good chance of getting in the game. also don't base characters chances of being in the game by their apparent "uselessness". look at some melee characters that alot of people (im talking about my friends mostly but this also applys to other people) consider useless are actually very good. pichu is a prime example because pichus attacks deal damage to himself and he is the lightest character in the game but all of his attacks are stronger than pikachus attacks. i saw a person defeat Event match 49-51 with pichu which many people find extremely hard. it all depends on the person who plays as the character. heck alot of people hate pichu because hes not very good, a clone, a last minute addition, and seems to have no reason in the game. i mean come on theres an Anti-Pichu thread. I really don't mind other peoples opinions but that is just ridiculous.
Popularity is the reasons why characters get the boot but i personally see no reason besides popularity or space why they can't stay in the game.

I don't know about the other members around here, but I'm not basing who should be getting the boot by tiers.
Mr. Game & Watch and the Ice Clmbers should stay.
Pichu and Dr. Mario should definitely go, Young Link probably as well. The others should stay, I say.
The fact of the matter with Pichu and Dr. Mario is not their tiers, but they are almost completely clones of Pikachu and Mario, respectively.

Tiers do bring up a good point. Some people say Game & Watch wil be cut before Sheik or Falco(who is a clone most people don't mention). I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell Sheik will be in the game before G&W or the ICs...

Why not? She's more recognizable than GW and ICs. I agree that Falco might not make it back. People neglect his return or cut because they like him.
Seriously, guys. Be realistic. Don't say someone's going to return just because you think he's cool. Nintendo knows us smashers are already going to buy the game so their focus is on everyone else that doesn't play smash regularly and make them into fanatics as well.
like i tried to say (at least i thought i tried to say........:veryconfu:veryconfu) the whole reason for taking out characters depends on the popularity of the characters and whether or not they're clones. (this also ties in with tiers....... i guess)

Oh well, I could live with the Puff, I guess, it's just that the rollout move makes me exceedingly angry. But it can make for some funny screenshots.
There's no reason for Falco to be taken out. Even less of a reason, now that the Subspace Emissary is revealed. Falco would fit perfectly with Fox there, and it increases his chance of being made original.

Ok listen whats the point in buying a game with all Same characters in it just better graphics.. i mean thats just sorta pointless. Plus i'm kinda bored of the same old characters and same old tactics. When New characters come around the fun is going to start all over again racing the whole world on who can finish the game first and who can unlock who. Even what characters havent been revealed yet.. Its all just gonna be for FUN.
