Why won't Sakurai talk about the characterson the website?

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm kinda freaked out by this. He could talk about their specials? I wasn't so Smash-savvy in the early days of Brawl's Dojo, so I don't know if text came after pictures or what.

It's not like he HAS to. He probably doesn't want to tip people off too much or say something may happen for sure but have it changed later in development.

I think he would rather wait for players to figure things out own or reveal character attributes more clearly via footage rather than words.

In all honesty, I'd rather see some footage of characters instead of being told what they can do by the developer.

I do recall him saying that he wouldn't be revealing too much this time around.

It's the same reason things like the Dojo during Brawl are not very common in game development. They do consume hours and resources so it's just better in general for save larger announcements for events and other things that are going to have a much larger audience then a daily update on a website. Really what did the Brawl version get lead to? It got to the point where people were complaining when they would run out of things to talk about and would simply show random items or things with the occasion interesting thing being introduced on and off. Considering they currently don't know when in 2014 they expect, we don't really know where the progress of development is to the point where having daily information outside of random screenshots probably doesn't seem a productive use of time or if they could even come up with enough information to spread out whatever that time frame is going to be.

It'll be fun going into the game knowing ONLY the starting roster and no other features of the game, exciting to see all the new stuff they implemented.

It's a picture. It's art. It is supposed to speak to your soul. Pay more attention to what your mind is saying, and all the subtleties of your heart. You may hear something, perhaps a voice that has long been ignored. It may seem like nothing's there, but the more you tune into it, the more you try to find it, slowly, the more audible it gets. The picture speaks and interacts with you, no one else.

Technically, he doesn't have to do anything. Sakurai's one of the few developers who even bothers showing the fans the development process of a major game on a regular basis and he even goes the extra mile by showing something every weekday. For most major games, you're lucky to get something twice a year at one of the major conferences. This being said, don't worry about it so much and just be thankful we're actually seeing something before next year's E3.
