Why is my Wii forcing me to update?

I haven't used my Wii for about 6 months. I start it up and put Brawl in(I've played Brawl on this Wii for 1 and a half years) and its telling me that I have to update in order to "Use this software"

When did this happen?

Wii menu version? Do you have Wii Connect on?

DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII. Instead of updating the wii to launch it through the disk channel, use Gecko OS or Neogamma to launch Brawl and you will be fine.

yeah that's what I did, I just find it stupid that it said I must Update in order to play Brawl. It's like they're asking me to use homebrew



And no I don't have Wiiconnect24 on

If your Wii Menu is pre-3.2, that would be why.
