I have a feeling I will enjoy playing Smash Run a whole lot giving all the enemies the beating of a lifetime and collecting power ups. At the very least, it won't be so boring like Brawl's Subspace Emmisary mode.

I just beat Subspace again yesterday. I gotta say that mode is only good for one run through. I was only doing it to unlock characters on someone else's Wii. I couldn't really enjoy it. I had to speedrun it

City Trial. In my opinion, anyone who has played Kirby Air Ride's City Trial mode fully understands what their getting with Smash Run. You can't really know how fun it is just by looking, it's something you have to experience. Not everyone will enjoy it, but I'm sure once people actually get to play it with a group of friends, their opinions will sway.

Well, I haven't really thought of it, but it seems kind of interesting. I don't expect to do it much, but it's cool there is actually a reason to buy the 3ds version instead of the wii U version (besides the difference in release date, which to me, is a very bad way to increase the amount of sold games). Then again, I will buy both and I doubt I'll be doing it much since I'm only into competitive, really, but I can understand why people like it.

It reminds me so much of city trial mode in Kirby Air Ride. Building up your stats, exploring the stage, all building up to a race or event that you might not have been prepared for. The trial was as fun as the actual game it led up to.

That **** was my jam.

Kirby's Air Ride is one of those games where just hearing about the concept, you don't realize how fun and addicting it is. Smash Run definitely makes me think of it, but with more of a focus on combat than just randomly looking for powerups. Plus, the multiple Nintendo universes merged together should make it even better.

I just like the gameplay of you going around collecting power ups. I never played Kirby's air ride but still. And plus I like random things in games. This mode will be the king of randomness in the smash games. Well at least for me.

I'm surprised some people don't like the mode. I like how it doesn't look like a boring old SSE 2.0. They are using Enemies from different series, and the power-ups seem very fun to collect.
This is the mode that I am going to spent a lot
It looks like a fun little mode that'll be used mainly for the purpose of grinding, though multiplayer could definitely extend play time of Smash Run. The appeal I find in it is that instead of the boring SSE enemies, we've got all these memorable ones from the actual series' to beat to a pulp. Has a lot of replayability to it. In the end though we'll all be running back to our normal matches. :p
We'll just have to wait until the game comes out, and play it personally.

Going back to Kirby Air Ride, the events at the end weren't always races. Sometimes boss fights. Sometimes target contest.

Is it confirmed Smash Run will only feature a fight at the end or could it be other events too?

It reminds me of a suped-up version of Melee's Adventure Mode with elements deriving from Air Ride and Subspace Emissary.

Smash Run definitely seems to be that one mode I won't be able leave once I get my hands on the game. :-)

And it is a great way to improve your fighting strategy than training mode.
I like your profile!

I had fun with City Trial, so I should have a lot of fun with Smash Run whenever I get a chance to play it.

Yeah, we already know there is a "Race to the Finish!" and "Climb!" battle that are possible match types at the end of Smash Run rounds. Speed stat will be useful in the former, jump will be useful in the latter. Both of these also take advantage of the fact everyone uses their own screen.

I never played City Trail, but I love the look of this mode. It encourages hopefully different strategies. If you can control the match that happens at the end that will be even better, but mostly it's going to be fun to play a game mode that's different from normal smashing.

I look forward to it simply because at times, I just don't feel like fighting regular opponents and instead want to beat the living daylights out of unassuming mooks as my favourite Nintendo characters. I mean, you don't get to do that in many other games (Kirby is one, but with less varied moves). And you certainly don't get to do that as Villager or Robin... or even Mario or Pikachu, now that I think about it.

I'm excited to play it but more just because it's a part of the game. I'm not actually that worked up over smash run. I'll play it when it comes out and judge it then but I'm mostly just excited about the game.

I think it's just cuz it's something new that people get worked up over it.

I am excited for a bunch of reasons. It gives me a lot of stuff to do on the go, I can fight cool enemies with characters they would not normally meet, and I just learned that the character you chose gets their music playing the whole fight!

The all-star cast of enemies, mooks, and goons that we've beat the crap out of over the years, and the giant stage that I can't wait to headcanon a backstory for.

Do you know how much time I've spent in City Trial?
No? Well, lemme tell ya.
1037 HOURS AND 14 MINUTES SO FAR.
Now imagine how much I'm gonna spend as my favorite characters in a giant maze.

As said many times above, Smash Run is very reminiscent of City Trial. In my opinion, City Trial made an otherwise bad game very fun, so I imagine that it will make Smash a even more fabulous game.

It's something new and there hasn't been anything else like this in any of the Smash games before, and it's a lot different than the other mini games in the previous ones too, and it would be cool to go super fast, jump really high, and other stuff like that so I'm just guessing, but that could be a couple reasons that people are so excited for smash run

Because it's reminiscent of Kirby Air Ride's City Trial mode which was the funnest-thing-in-the-whole-entire-world-and-if-you-don't-agree-that-city-trial-was-the-bees-knees-you're-probably-a-jaded-lonely-cynic-sitting-in-a-basement.

Also it's just something we haven't really seen in Smash before and helps compliment the customized moveset idea perfectly.

To me, seeing characters in scenarios that they wouldn't normally be in with the Nintendo all-stars seems to be a special stamp of fame/importance/whatnot/approval. Being able to see Robin and Lucina, two characters that I personally love, go toe-to-toe with the enemies of Nintendo will be an outstanding rite of passage of sorts. Playing Smash Run as them will in a sense finally give them "Nintendo All-Star" status.
