Why Brawl could have been on GC some years ago

I really don't see why such a long wait for this one after Melee. Because this isn't without its reasons. Online play and so on aside, so here goes anyway:

1. Wario, Dedede, and other long overdue characters

Self-explanatory.

2. Pit

Was planned to be in before, but got cut for certain reasons. Desperate KI fans really wanted him, as you'd know.

3. More satisfying additions

Fleshed-out single-player mode and so on. It's not like people haven't longed for things like that during the time of Melee.

4. Kojima's beloved Solid Snake

You all know about this one. Must have been really hard for that man all these years.

Sakurai: Sorry to keep you waiting, buddy.
Kojima: Yeah, after what, 7 friggin years?!?

If he begged so much for it, why not do something about it back then, Sakurai?

That's it so far, I think. I may add another if I think of one. I don't care if you agree or disagree, I just did it for the sake of pointing it out.

...Come to think of it, those Rush Hour films and the Banjo games by Rare happen to have a similar case (Grunty's Revenge aside). This 360 Banjo title BETTER be the "Banjo-Threeie" that Grunty spoke of in the end of Tooie.

Smash is simply one of those once-on-a-console games. The Wii is the Cube's successor and therefore gets its installment. Sure there were things wanted back then and characters that were long over due but Melee was already out and there was no need to make another game when Melee was selling strongly. Besides if they had released it then then people would be complaining about a lack of Smash for the Wii. If you released a Smash game every 3 years the novelty would sort of ware thin. Since its so unique it doesn't have the ability to be that sort of game simple as that.

And as for characters not making it, you can blame time restraints. Perhaps thats one of the things that will benefit from this delay.

Also making a game early just to add a few things like that seems silly. It'd be a better idea to wait on the next system anyway, not to mention the fact that Sakurai left Nintendo to start his own company.

I agree, it is very much more a once-a-console kind of game.

Also, by being released on Wii Brawl will likely sell a hell of a lot more than if it was released on Gamecube. Which, other reasons aside, I think would be enough on its own to make Nintendo wait.

Regardless: 8.5 GB of Smash > 1.5 GB of Smash
This is the main issue.

BTW, online could have been done on gamecube. Heck, an online Smash Bros would of definitely caused the internet add-ons to sell like hot cakes. If that happened gamecube would have gotten more online games and may have made the gamecube a better system overall.

Because the GameCube's online support was AMAZING, and the fleshed-out single player adventure, improved graphics, and new physics engine would have done wonderful on the far-smaller file size that they could cram into a 'Cube disk, right? Once they (officially) developed something that allowed you to transfer your screen shots and videos to a computer from a GCN memory card, and build your own stages that could be transmitted to other players and even sent in to be judged and distributed to the masses by Nintendo, the --

You know what? I'm not even going to bother finishing this sarcastic post. It's got enough in it to convey my thoughts, and I need food.

Bye.

Uhh..

I don't think so.

Even if the game is only been in development for a while..

They've still had 7 years to come up with new ideas and features.

Which is far better than 3 years of ideas and features.

The time between the development of Melee & Brawl means that Brawl should be a true sequel and not just SSB Melee 1.5. Also, a SSB game for the Wii guarantees everyone who bought the Wii will keep their Wii.
