Keeping this short, but I've noticed this yesterday from my way back home from a tourney in Warner Robins. The roads became darker than what you could ever see by yourself without a flashlight in your room. It's not really my problem yet, but when my mother almost has a panic attack because she cannot see, then it's a god**** problem.

Is it a financial thing, or is the government too ****ing lazy to put street lights on the highway?

When the country is trillions of dollars in debt, street lights in states that don't provide much for the economy come last on their priority list.

You curse too **** much imo. ****ing kids these days.

Over here they have "cat's eyes", which fiercely reflect light from car headlights to provide motorway lighting.

I think your government's just being cheap though.

Serin, you live in an area dominated by Republicans, that means low low low taxes, that means little work will be done to the roads because the government has no money. Go to New England, drive on those roads, you will notice a difference in how the feel and look.

...What are you talking about? The roads in New England suck just as much as anywhere else.

But also, there's the issue of saving energy, light pollution, etc.
Lighting up all the highways just wouldn't be worth it. Financially, AND in terms of wasting electricity to power a bunch of lights that aren't exactly neccessary.

It's not always good to have lights everywhere, especially when cars have their own built-in lights so you can see.

Please. I spent 9 years in the south. The roads, upkeep of the school and government buildings differ greatly. Driving there could wreck your car, driving here, even through the poorer areas, is much easier on your car. Then there is the street lights in the south and out of the south. The difference is huge. Driving in Tennessee nearly got my family killed several times because of a lack of street lights. The same has yet to happen now that we live back north.

I lived in the south for 9 years too. You make it sound like the typical stereotype that everyone has, that the south is this run-down place full of hillbillies. And it's not.

I was out driving for a few hours today and ran into MULTIPLE roads that were really rough. New England is not this magical place that you make it out to be. Instead of saying "THE SOUTH HAS LOWER TAXES THEREFORE IT SUCKS" and trying to pin the blame on someone, can't you...just address the topic at hand, which is that some roads aren't lit and that this is a problem?

I swear, people just take whatever they want and throw it into any blog they want. No wonder we have so many religion debates here.

There is a difference between multiple rodes and a vast majority of them. He asked why they aren't lit, as with any government run thing that falls short, it is from a lack of funding. The roads are something that are run and maintained by the government, so when they fall short, I point towards the government. When the army falls short, check for outside forces working against, if you see none, point at those in command of the situation. Its not 'just anything' its the cause. Very few roads in comparison to what I see here have the 'cat's eyes' that Teran refused to.

this is what Teran is talking about for those who don't know:

Infrastructure is something that is government run, its not just me pluggin in a political attack, its me pointing at where the fault and the responsibility lies.

Oh sure, we can spend that kind of money to look for weapons of mass destruction, yet we haven't found a **** firecracker.

And no, I don't curse alot.

The headlights only light a visible path by a few feet. And with fading lines on the road, it doesn't really help the driver's situation.

The vast majority of the roads in the south (which is an entire region, I love how people make such sweeping generalizations when it's physically impossible to stereotype the entire region as such) are not horrible either.

And you ARE plugging in a political attack, because he didn't ask "WHICH POLITICAL PARTY IS AT FAULT? WHICH REGION IS AT FAULT?" He asked if it was a financial situation or if it was the government being lazy. The answer to that is "It's a financial situation", not "IT'S ALL THE REPUBLICAN'S FAULTS THE SOUTH IS A DUMP." (Obviously you didn't say it in those exact words.)

It's like the guys in the recently closed thread on Christianity talking about Creatonism. Yes, that has to do with why the things that were complained about in the blog occur in the first place, but it's a derivation to the extent that it's not just replying to the thread, it's inserting things into it that weren't there before.

Politics and religion both cause some heated, nasty debates, so it would be nice if we could NOT insert them everywhere just because they CAN fit into the topic. (Religion was already in that topic, but not in the same way.)

Speaking of locked threads, I'll stop assisting in the derailing of this thread right now so as to not be totally hypocritical.

._. It's funny how blogs can get derailed so quickly.

Anyways, my question has been answered and this thread can now be closed, Teran.
