Well yes he does have a better moveset than Tails, but in reality, either one of them will end up as Assist Trophies.

That really seems like a slap in the face to me. Not only should Tails go more old school if he's an AT (his walker crap in SA2 was horrendous to play through), but Tails is absolutely the "number 2" of the Sonic series. He's the Luigi. I really think that, on principle, he should be in before Knux.

Dude Lucas isn't exactly unknown. He's from the same series as Ness, and is the star of Mother 3 and is Claus's twin brother. He's very popular in Japan. He's far from unknown. And I'll give Knuckles 35% thats it. Remember, this is a NINTENDO game and regardlessof how many third party characters they add to the game, this a game based primarily on NINTENDO all-stars.

The third party characters that have made it make sense...

1.) Snake--originated on NES, a classic video game series
2.) Sonic--biggest rival of Mario to date, has appeared on Wii in Sonic and the Secret of the Rings game and will appear in obviously Brawl, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.

Knuckles is more vital to SEGA and Sonic and all though he may appear as an Assist trophy and maybe a collectible trophy, he has no major ties to Nintendo right now and thus, will not become a playable character when Nintendo will most likely focus on characters like Ganondorf, Geno, Bowser Jr., Marth, etc. that should be there first.

Knuckles, Tails and Shadow are all cooler than Sonic (my opinion), but none of them are in. Sad but true. Enough is enough already.

Agreed on part the first (my opinion: Knuckles > Sonic > Tails > watching rocks gather moss > Shadow), fact on the second. "Quoted for truth" as they say.

Because this isn't Mario vs. Sonic. This is Super Smash Bros. with guest characters.

By adding Knuckles, Nintendo doesn't gain anything, so it doesn't make sense to bother making a moveset and a character model for a character that they don't even own who won't even get them more money when they COULD be working on someone like Ridley or Olimar, etc.

BUT Knuckles is only vital to SEGA and SONIC not Nintendo. Marth and Roy were part of a HUGE Fire Emblem series in JAPAN hence they were in Brawl. And you have to remember, Sonic and Knuckles were popular BUT THEY WERE OWNED BY SEGA AND ARE STILL OWNED BY SEGA. And when owend by Sega, they could have never made it into Nintedno games regardless of their popularity. Could Knuckles technically be in Brawl? Yes. Is it likely, no.
I would like to see Knuckles there too and I dream that he will be, but I know if Nintendo opens the flood gates to all 3rd party characters, Nintendo will drown.

For one, we know there will be very limited third-party representation in the game. Sakurai said in his journal we might get 1-2 after Snake. He was ambiguous about it, so its not too concrete, but plainly theres a reason he set the number so low. In addition, there are many huge video gaming icons being requested for those slots that none of Sonic's friends stand up to in terms of popularity - Mega Man, Bomber Man, Sora, Simon Belmont, just to name a few. Theres no reason why Nintendo would put in a second Sonic character, who would surely be greeted with much less enthusiasm than Sonic himself, rather than any of the far more requested, iconic characters from other series/companies out there. Its just not logical.

BECAUSE, they are all NINTENDO GAMING SERIES. This is about Nintendo all-stars and then a couple of guess stars. Zelda and Mario characters are huge games in the Nintendo world. Same goes with the other series you mentioned. It's Nintendo first, and a couple of guess stars later. Yeah, we'd all like to see Knuckles or Mega-Man, or Pac-Man, etc. but right now its mainly all about Nintendo.

And some one said it before, Tails would get in first because of the Tails is to Sonic as Luigi is to Mario analogy.

Because those are all Nintendo characters, therefor they reemphasize the Nintendo all-stars theme. The Mario theme is represented with Mario alone. But adding characters like Luigi, Bowser, and Peach is a good idea because they're icons of Nintendo. Knuckles is not an icon of Nintendo.

Adding more nintendo characters whose franchises are already being represented by others just means a bigger character roster, which people like.
Adding more thirdy party characters whose franchises are already being represented means a bigger roster, but also takes away from the main gimmick of the game—fight with your favorite Nintendo all-stars.

The only reason Sonic and Snake have gotten away with breaking that theme is because they'll attract lots of people (and Snake was "begged" or whatever). Knuckles does not offer that.

Those are all Sega games (yes, even Sonic And Mario At The Olympic Games), they just appear on Nintendo consoles.

Hey, I get it. You want support for Knuckles, relax. I get the whole idea behind the thread, but you seem to be the most die-hard person on a video game character, I've ever met. Oh, by the way, I think I stated several times over, that I like Knuckles, I'd love him to be there, I want him there and I like him over Tails, so I think I have a grasp on point of the thread.
