I think it's pretty good. "Brawl" just carries that Smash feel that we all know and love. It's also definitely better than some of the original titles Sakurai came up with for Melee:

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n01/n64/software/nus_p_nalj/smash/PostReturn004.html

In a response here, Sakurai gives hypothetical suggestions for the name of the second Smash Brothers game. These include:

* Smash Brothers 2: Beautiful Woman Secretary Steam Murder Case

* Smash Brothers 2: Turbo Hot Water Limits Full Throttle

* Smash Brothers 2: Hydrogen Bomb Death Match! Hot-Blooded Hong Kong Kung Fu Dragon Shaolin Temple

I lol'd when I saw these.

Melee is a better title than Brawl, IMO.

If Melee had been named Brawl and vice versa, it would have been better.

Just my opinion though.

I can't say that I don't because, I do.
When Melee came out, no one knew what the hell "melee" meant, so no one (who played SSB for the N64) in my area knew what the crap the game even was about and the game sold poorly for a while (once again, in my area).
So this title makes the game sound like a fighting game. Whoo!
I'm just curious, if there's another one, what its title will be...

Wait, what? Where the heck do you live!?

They should have called it Fracas. Fracas is an awesome word.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah-no. Nobody even knows what that means, being a synonym of Brawl. :p

The title is fine in my opinion. Fits perfectly with how the game works, just like Melee did. And dictionaries, people. They are your FRIENDS.

I kinda hate the Brawl part. I kinda hate the super smash brothers part too. Where do the brothers come in? Most Japanese titles and speech patterns make little sense to me, and ALWAYS seem over-dramatic, but it is what it is and I'll still buy it.

Yeah, "Brawl" is a fine name. Though, I always thought 'Super Smash Brothers' sounded random. I mean, what's it supposed to mean? But, it doesn't matter, really. It's still a bamf game, 'course.

I think Super Smash Bros means that although there are tons of alt. universe in the world of Nintendo, they are all made from Nintendo.......except of course Sonic and Snake....:p

I think it means that the characters are like brothers, the translation of the Brawl's theme also suggest this.

And thats why Sakurai said 3rd party characters are "guests".

....Oh someone beat me to it :p

I think Brawl is a step up in intensity than Melee. I was one of those who knew what melee meant before the game, and don't think it has the same feeling as "brawl." Melee, to me, sounds more like a small scale fight between two or three people, while Brawl sounds more like an all out, no rules, massive bar fight in an old western with fans falling from the ceiling and bar stools flying thirty feet in the air before knocking a guy out.

As for the sequel, who knows. I figure it would continue on the line of synonyms for "fight" of some sort. Which they choose is beyond me, I mean, this is Nintendo. Who can predict their next move?

Dairantou Smash Bros. X sounds a lot better in my opinion. Too bad it would still be messed up if it was localized.

I don't really like "Brawl." I think "Clash" would have been better. Melee was a really good title, though.

Haha. Super Smash Bros. Annihilation. SSB Resurrection. SSB Forever.

The next SSB sequels lol. At least they are original /sarcasm.
SSB: Forever? Hopefully it does not end up like the "other" Forever game.

Duke Nukem: Delayed Forever

Brawl is alright but I would have prefered SSB Big Ball Bonanza.
