Seriously. WTH does a front kick in mid-air (a number of the characters' nairs) have to do with sex?

well when a mommy kick and a daddy kick do the nasty nasty. They make a baby kick, so thats why its called a sex kick.

ive heard this explanation. the nairs that come out strong and get weaker the longer they are out are called sex kicks. this is a joke on the fact that guys start strong and get weaker during sex. anyways, thats just what ive heard. no idea who came up with it. use the search button next time, theres a topic on this.

I always thought the answer was obvious, but I can't possibly explain without being vulgar.

On another note, the term should be dropped entirely. It is one of those stupid jokes made by tasteless people who think that all obscene comments are funny just because they're obscene.

Sex Kick: The nickname given by Matt Deezie's crew to the nair attack of some characters, this nickname has since become common place after several years of usage. It is defined as a kick that sticks out and still hits people even when the foot is no longer moving (Samus, Mario, Doc, Yoshi, etc). Some people use it as a term for all nair’s, although such a reference would be incorrect.

Straight from the Melee forum. Let's look things up on our own, from now on.

Mr GAW is correct. Mattdeezie and Vien, the oldest and schooliest of oldschool, of the Pre-Ken days, when bands of items still roamed the earth, coined the term "sex kick." They are also responsible for "Wavedash" (taken from other fighting games but nowhere near as iconic) and Shieldgrabbing, and even credited with Shinespike.

Of course, even they don't know where Sex Kick came from, so the "starts out strong and gets weaker over time" is as good as anything.
