Which controller is better?

O.K., I know that this doesn't really fit into tournament discussion, but it doesn't fit anywhere else either, and choice of controller is important in tournaments.

Right now, I have a platinum Gamecube controller. I started playing with it in 2002 when I got my Gamecube, and by now it's pretty worn down. I want to buy a new Gamecube controller (this is for Melee) but I'm stuck between the new white controller from Japan and just another regular controller. I have heard that the new controller is better constructed, but I also know that its cord is about 10 feet long. For those that have this new controller, I have two questions:
1. Do you feel that it is superior to the regular controller in any way?
2. Do you feel that the 10-foot cord gets in the way at any time?

For those who haven't seen it, here is the link to the new controller on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Official-Nintendo-Classic-Gamecube-Wii-Controller/dp/B0017KIBAI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1267743481&sr=1-1

Thanks

The white one is a bit expensive but it's definitely worth getting. I don't feel much of a difference between the black, platinum and orange controllers vs. the white one however. The 10 feet cord is real nice if you have to sit a bit far from a Wii/Gamecube. And you could say the white one matches the Wii. :p I've had mine for over a year and it still feels like new.

The only thing about the white one that really is an issue is if you don't press the shoulder buttons in the center. If you press the shoulder buttons on the outside edge they can stick and not go down. I rectified this by just getting a clear back though. So it's not a horribly big issue.

I dont want them to feel new...
Yeah, but then, if you try to get used to it, when you go back to your old ones, they feel like crap. Although I guess it would be better to play with your older controllers until they totally die and move on to your newer one. :3

My usual controller doesn't have the rubber on the joystick, and I never really cared. But then when I try really hard (I'm a doc I have) it hurts my thumb. So, I moved on to my newer one. Needed a little getting used to, but I did. Now I left it in my friends car, and I'm using my ori-- well, my third one. First two I don't have anymore. Anyways, I'm using it now, and im fine. But when I got back to it I was like "I wish I had my other one". Its also hard to tell if I am doing well with that controller when I don't have the other one.

Same
The white ones feel different to me, and I don't like that
Same as above ^ ;3
