its not so much the character you choose, its how you play them. For example, a toon link can be played as a projectle spammer, close range fighter, and aerial fighter. If you spam projectiles, get a nice, flat stage like FD, if you fight close range get something small like toshi's island or battlefield, if you like aerial fights, choose one with little ground that isn't safe for landing(not many stages like this, all i can think of are customs)
