As much as the consensus is that lucas is fun to play, I still see very few people anywhere playing lucas. I still see very few placing high in tournaments.

This is understandable. He's not the best character out there. But he's amazing fun, and has lots of potential. Yet if you ask me, the lucas forum seems very dead on most days.

The best players with this great character don't seem to post too much. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I apologize if I sound condescending, but I feel like Lucas is near the bottom of the list, and that with a little leadership and a little light, we can get him to the middle at least. Where is that leadership?

Ive been playing alot online lately, doing the FFA against anyone and its seems like a majority of the matches I see a Lucas player. As a Lucas main this makes me happy to see so many other Lucas players. And it feels good when I beat them too with my Lucas...lol.
So the point is I think Lucas is getting more popular:)
^ This guy may or may not be the best Lucas out there, but I am loving the enthusiasm. This guy starts threads all the time about lucas's popularity, or ways to argue that he's higher on the list than he is. I'm not the best either. Well, best one in Houston, but looking at my tournament placings and relative inexperience, that doesn't mean much. However, I'm really trying to post a bit more and be helpful. I'd like to make a stand.

The more people make a stand, the more matchup threads that get goin, the more everything goin on in this forum, the more popular lucas gets, the more he inevitably stands out in the metagame.

Who's with me?

Yeah we got to do what we can to get Lucas up higher on the list and gain popularity.
I play as Lucas the most out of my 7 mains and he is my best character.
If u put alot of work into Lucas he will work wonders:)

I'm actually quite content with the number of people who have no idea how to handle Lucas since he's such an uncommon matchup to take seriously. Honestly who really cares how popular or where on the tier list he is? Just enjoy your opponents' ignorance.

Any good Lucas player can change his playstyle for every character and their opponents' playstyle.

Don't get me wrong on this
I LOVE the ignorance of my opponents
I LOVE how every other one eats PKF all day long

Even if he moves up I don't expect people to know how to handle him at the rate it's goin.
I expect the world to take notice :)

No one really see's how good he is, until i beat him/her that is.
Also, I've always wondered, how people started using him..
For me it was a "pick up" and play. :D

Even though there looks like there is more Lucas' I think it would still be fun with just the little that we have, that way when we play people online they underestimate us... until we win! haha

For me it's harder to do well in tournies, cos about half the people around here play G&W. But Lucas is really fun, and there's nothing better than beating higher tiers when they think they have the match won.

I'm with you pianodude. I beleive you saw my post in that other Lucas thread, about him not being broken correct? That's what we need though. We need people to band together and create a path for the users of Lucas.
I've already done a little bit. When playing with friends, if I get beaten one match I'll say "I'm bringing out the Lucas" the next match, and then I wreck them. And some of my friends actually fear me when I play Lucas, so I suppose thats a start.

I have seen and played against some of the best Lucas' out there. lil cj being one of them. But for some reason, Lucas is always being taken lightly and I wonder why.

^ I agree.
I also believe that Lucas is gaining popularity very slowly, but it's getting there. :)

Lucas is to Ness, as Ike is to Marth, as Roy was to Marth in Melee. noob character syndrome, i don't know how many times i hear a mention of Lucas and i also hear noob chracter in the same sentence. i know quite a few people who picked Lucas, then stopped picking him cause people didn't fall into Usmash Dsmash and PK fire like they used too so they quit him. i still use Lucas and its amazing how many people do take him lightly, probably buying into the noob character talk so they think he's easy.

QFT. I just came back from a convention in Lafayette (couldn't make the tourney there, but played a bunch of friendlies) and heard on multiple occasions stuff like:

"Man, who uses Lucas?"
"You're the first person I've ever seen to use Lucas seriously."
"WTF?" (After slamming a R.O.B. with PKT2)

(All paraphrased, of course.)

And various other comments that basically show Lucas is unpopular enough to cause people to more or less ignore him completely. (Case in point: Whenever I reflected something with fsmash, the reaction was inevitably "Lucas can reflect stuff?") On the other hand, Marth mains certainly know about that grab release. :urg:

EDIT: This might also be because of the negative publicity Ness and Lucas received when their vulnerability to grab releases was first discovered, causing people to generally view them as bad characters with no redeeming qualities. Who better to kick some *** with?

Its funny to impress people with Lucas
Most people dont know what he is capable of.
Like when they get hit by an up smash for the first time...priceless:)
Or when they get KO'd by side smash at a low percentage...lol
My personal favorite, when they r hanging on the ledge and u hit them with a PK freeze at the right time and they fall to their deaths...too funny...lol.
U gotta love Lucas

I think one of my favorite moments was playing some friendlies with some guy at a tournament and chaining four PK Freezes in a row on him then batting him off the side of the stage and seeing the look on his face
