What's the tactical usage of gannon's float?

I'm a total PM scrub ( I went to my first pm tourney last week and got dead last of 33 people), and don't get me wrong, Gannondorf's new moveset is really cool ( i love how he was allowed to basically keep warlock punch , i mean, the sword is practically the exact same move when you think about it: Really slow, really powerfull), but is gannon's new up b float just good for recovering back on the stage, or is it useful like the way peach's flying helps her control smacing, or what? I'd be interested in knowing how gannon's flight actually helps you win the game.
