I'll be doing a VS match as Mario to get a feel for the new physics. Then, I'll play as the newcomers and Brawl mains. Then it's classic mode to unlock stuff!

For me it will be straight into vs mode. Play atleast one game with every starting character then classic mode. Most likely with Marth since he's been my favourite in Melee & Brawl (maybe with someone else if I realy like him/her in my vs-mode play through). Then clear every single player stuff once to unlock what I can before cheating, by going online and google how you unlock stuff. Lastly I will unlock every character and then every stage as fast as possible. Next day I'll get friends over and just have a blast the entire day!
Damn, just reading through this thread and thinking about it myself got me all hyped up again.

Ps: If I am going to sleep before starting with my unlock stuff rampage, I will for sure leave a vs-mode game with no timer on over the night. Damn you mewtwo for taking so long to unlock!

I'm gonna sit down crack open a beer and get to work unlocking characters. Possibly though the new adventure mode if there is one. If not the classic mode.

Run to Toys R Us. Run into the video games section. Throw exact change at the man behind the counter and run with the game.

Call up my friends. Prepare the pizza, pretzels, root beer, Mountain Dew, chicken fingers, nachos, taquitos, brownies, cookies, Coca-Cola, grape soda, french fries, and anything else I need.

Sit down. Prime my Pro Controller.

Turn on the Wii U, watch the opening, and just stare at the character select for a few minutes.

MY BODY IS READY.

I'm gonna focus my attention on My Music first, then unlock Sonic if he's hidden again, then get to work on all the characters and stages. I'd like to ring up my friends, but since I'm in college now, my most true friends are out of range. My best friend is getting the 3DS version, but I'm getting the Wii U. I hope Sakurai explains unlock criteria by the time the game comes out though.

I want to check out the music, but I want to play .vs, b-b-b-but I also want to play adventure, but what about the online!? And when I do eventually play the vs mode, what do I do first, 1v1 final destination with my main? no, that's too familiar, I'll just do a free for all with new characters on a new stage, b-b-b-b-but I want to see what final destination looks like! I can't decide, it's just too much!
I'd play classic, but I want to play as different characters...

Buy a few more 3DSs and SSB4s so you can do it all at once.

1. Stare at it in amazement that I have a new Smash game.

2. Unlock Luigi, because I am having doubts that he will be playable initially. This probably involves playing Classic Mode...

3. After unlocking Luigi (or if he is playable initially), play as him and see what changes they made.

4. Play a ton of matches.

Under the assumption that he's replacing my Brawl main G&W, I'm gonna beat Villager to a pulp as Link.

1. Drop out of school and life to become a Pokémon Master.
2. Get in line.
3. Poison everyone in line. Nothing lethal, just something that melts them like the Angel of Death in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
4. Use my Metal Gear Solid stealth skills to take all the copies of Smash For the WiiU and 3DS from the place I am purchasing.
5. Hop in my X-Wing Arwing and blow up the Death Star Game Stop.
6. Find a WiiU somewhere along the line.
7. Insert the disc and cartridge into my WiiU and 3DS XL respectively.
8. Turn on my WiiU and 3DS XL.
9. Do the gameplay.
10. Play as Toon Link first, then Fox, then Mario, then Ness, then Mega Man (this is a tradition I follow; I play as my previous games' main first, then my main in the game before that [I'll do this for 64 and Project M], and then play as my favorite immediately unlocked newcomer).
11. ???
12. I'm the best at the game and you all worship me.
13. Unlock Sonic, Tails, and Toad in Melee.

Go to Training Mode.
Then unlock characters.
Then establish who's my main.
Attempt to stock Level 9's.

Pray that I'm competent online.

Play some W-Fi matches to see if the connection has improved. If it did, I can die a happy man.

Get super freaky with it in bed

For starters, it depends if my bro/friends are around when it launches. If my bro and/or friends are around, we'll play some matches and whatever else excites us.

If not around, I'll play some online matches, then when I'm done with that start unlocking characters and stages (this goes for both Wii U & Nintendo 3DS versions).

The Nintendo 3DS version has one extra step: Have the SSB clone Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion in my 3DS slot (I'm getting Smash 3DS digitally) and start comparing the two heavily to see how well CNPTE did for being a 3DS launch window Smash clone by a nobody developer (a game I still heavily play from time to time).

1. Get Smash 4 3DS

Lying about my country.
Not because I care about it, but because at this point it's pretty much tradition, I'll read the ****ing manual.

If I managed to go buy the game with some friends, or just one, whatever, we'll probably go straight into VS mode, and go for a match with as much players as we can, (without CPUs) five stock, no time, and all items on at normal frequency. If I buy it with no friends, I'll do the same, except my matches will be against a single Lvl. 9 CPU.

Friends or not, my first pick will likely be Link. Or Toon Link, if he's a starter. Afterwards, I'll try out each newcomer, then move on to veterans. I want to try freaking everyone before I really decide on a main. Not really "practice," just try every character and see how they feel to me.

After I tried everyone (well, the starters and whoever I unlock along the way) I'll try the Adventure mode. Or just classic if there's no Adventure. I'll just go and jump through every single mode, try to blindly unlock characters.

I probably won't go online until I've unlocked all characters. Don't really want to fight against characters I don't have yet.

I'll probably just jump right in the battle, playing a veteran I know how to play as to get the feel of it, and then try out a newcomer.

Unlocking Marth is a priority.
Then it's all about obsessively seeing what's possible with him compared to Brawl. Same goes with Fox.

Also want to see how far Little Mac can go off-stage before he's dead, and I want to fully get used to the new ledge mechanics.

I'll most likely play standard battles with the starter characters for a while and get a feel for them and the stages. Then I'll probably head to classic mode.

If Isaac or Shulk happen to be starter characters I might point and squeal at them on the character select screen for several minutes.

First I'll to the store and buy it.

On the way home I'll keep looking at the back of the box and admire the in-game pictures, then flip it and look at the cover art and then flip it back to see the back side again all while trying not to get the plastic wrap dirty.

When I get home I'll turn it on and watch the whole intro and think how cool it is that I own this game.

After playing for hours I'll turn it off to go to sleep. I'll try to force myself to sleep to get to the next day faster so I could play again.

I honestly don't know yet, especially for the 3DS version.

If my brother is around when it comes out for Wii U, then I will definitely end up playing VS matches with him first. I may also invite a friend over, depending on the situation.

If I'm alone, though, I'm not sure. I'll probably just do a quick bit of experimentation in Training Mode, and will probably tackle the Adventure Mode after that, if the Wii U version has one.

For me, it's always been at least one classic mode run with Mario since Smash 64. (Even though he's never been my "main".)

Forgot to say Classic mode, but mainly jump right into the fray. That's what I did the first three games, and this one will be no different.
