Personally, I don't think Project M's competitive community is going to stop because it stopped updating.

I mean, Melee and Smash 64 never even had updates and the competitive community is still strong in those games.

No idea for certain, but I'm fairly sure the people that were really into PM aren't going to quit just because official development ended. Though without bugfixes, certain characters are going to be screwed competitively.
