What to do after you tech G&W's Dthrow?

I keep getting hit by dsmashs and jabs, even after I tech ground moves. Should I tech and shield or tech and jump? Both seem to end up in me getting punished in one way or another...

If you tech and you hold a direction you will roll the direction you are holding. (Tech rolling)
