Most Yoshi users use tap jump off. Certain techniques become easier depending on whether or not you have tap jump on or off.

IIRC
-Egg toss slide is easier with tap jump ON
-Edge canceled eggs are easier with tap jump OFF
-Dragonic reverse is easier with tap jump ON
-Recovering is easier with tap jump OFF because you can use your eggs before you use your double jump. Tap jump makes it almost impossible (if not completely impossible) to do

Thanks. I will probably turn the tap jump off but both seem good. The a up attack on the ground is easier to use with the tap jump off.

:yoshi: It mainly boils down to preference and playstyle.

The one you are most comfortable with will be the one that is best for you.

since tap-jump ruins yoshi's egg toss recovery and helps him do other techs, why not change your C-Stick to SPECIAL and push up on the C stick when you need to toss an egg. You can also auto-RAR with it which is even more helpful.

Wouldn't that mess up DRing though? I'm assuming one would use Tap Jump BECAUSE one wants to DR. XXA is still an option for DR, but if you use that method, why bother with Tap Jump?

I guess I could try Yoshi using my RAR setup, though. ^^

From what I've heard in the DR thread, DR is much easier with tap jump on because UP/X/A is easier than X/X/A. Additionally, I hear that the egg-toss-slide is easier with tap-jump on.

The thing that sucks about having tap-jump on is because if yoshi is recovering and you want to throw an egg, when you push up for your up-b then he will start his double jump and you may not want that. If you push up on the c-stick rather than up-b you will save your double jump for when you want to use it, and still get an egg out there.

Tap-jump/B-sticking sounds like it solves ALL of the control issues while making things easy.

However, I can't test any of this out since I don't have a Wii (argh) and if using the C-stick for eggs doesn't work right OR if you need the C-stick to perform the smash in the DR, screw everything I just said in these last two posts and throw me in the corner with a dunce cap.

I actually found a way to recover ONLY with eggs with tap jump on. It's just a technical issue. While recovering, do a random aerial (other than Dair) followed by up/forward. Keep holding up/forward so you can use Up-B without DJing. This works because the DJ will only register WHEN you smash/tilt the control stick, and you obviously can't DJ while you're doing an aerial.

Of course, you have to start this while you're about 2 characters above the ledge, otherwise you'll be too low to just recover with Egg Toss.

Ok, you're cool now. : j

Change c-stick to the special moves sounds useful. But how do you use the egg lay special move on the c-stick?

You can't really. On that, I'd recommend a different button.
Yes, you can. When you set C-stick to specials, you do Neutral B moves by smashing a diagonal. It's still kinda hard, from my experience, so if you're going to have your C-stick be specials, keep B as you're second "specials" button so you can do Neutral B moves easier.
