What is this "stutter step" I keep hearing about?

Stutter Step is an odd thing Mario, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, and Sonic have where if you do a Forward Smash with the C-Stick in the opposite direction they're facing, they get some extra distance. (E.g. Mario is facing left, you hit C-Stick right, Mario does a Forward Smash to the right, but he does it a bit further to the right than he should be.) This is taken advantage of by starting a dash to the right, then quickly dashdancing left, and immediately doing a C-Sticked F-Smash to the right. That way you get both the initial distance you dashed right, and the extra distance from the stutter step, giving you much longer F-smash range.

really? that's odd, because when i'm facing left, all i have to do is tap right then tap left on the c-stick, and it works.
I think he meant that you can get even MORE distance, so stutter step + the dash for the maximum amount of distance.

nice find, im going to try this.

Its a very easy thing to learn and get accustom too, just remember to use it during heated matches where you tend to forget the basics and also...If you don't have Tap-Jumping on remember you can also angle your F-Smash ;P
