What is this Erasmode crap?

Isn't the point of Smash Bros. to be able to play every character? If I wanted to play League of Legends, I would just do it! Is this really becoming a competitive thing?

Not trying to start a dispute, I'm just thoroughly concerned that people are trying their hardest to make Smash worse.

My friend flew halfway across the country to visit me so we'd like to go to a tournament together. This is the only somewhat local one.
