I have watched many videos about Project M tournaments and have seen people place X's over the stage icons.

My question is

1.) What is it for (My guess is that it locks it from being chosen)
2.) How do you do it.

Thank you very much + I want to learn all I can because I'm setting up a tourney here in japan in about a month.

And to explain the reasoning -- generally in tournaments the first stage is chosen by each person striking stages in a set order, then whatever's left out of the neutrals (bottom row in PM at most tournaments) is where they go. If you see a tournament for brawl or melee they often do this in the random stage select, so this saves time there and it isn't reset after each match. Then after that the winner can ban a certain number of stages, so it's an easier way to have the pictures there and ban the set stages, and for the other person to see where to go next.

So mostly a convenience for tournament sets

(also, if you push y on the gamecube controller I think it strikes out every stage that isn't set on for random stage select)

Pressing Y strikes the top row on the first page.

Pressing Y strikes any stages you have set to OFF for Random. Maybe you just have your top row all set to OFF.

Pressing Z removes all strikes, a thing which many people seem to not know, because I always see people back out back to the character select screen when they "mess up" their strikes.
