What is going on???

I always get those random matches where it's 4 player online smash and all the players just prance around not attacking each other and of course if you break the mold then you have 3 players attacking you. Ok once in a while sure I get it. But today literally 4 out of 5 (maybe even 5 out of 6) matches were all like this??? Too weird to be coincidence but maybe not? Is there something I'm missing today? Like maybe a show of respect for the recently deceased Nintendo president? Idk I missed the memo

Yeah, those guys weren't really serious about it. I know when I run across these types of players in team battles, we usually double team his/her teammate.
