Super Mario Bros. 3 (Definately the best on NES, arguably the best side scrolling Mario ever)

Punch-Out! (Just... so fun!)

G.I. Joe (Not the Atlantis project. This game was actually really fun and kind of deep, seeing as you could change which soldiers to bring, and each had melee and long range weapons... Deep for NES that is)

All of the Mega Man games (Classics)

Duck Hunt (Used to love shooting the ducks with the orange gun...)

Man, NES was such a good system... Nostalgia!

Sorry, i know this is a really old thread, but it was in the official thread list. Plus, with the Virtual Console, these games could be rereleased soon!

My top games are:

1)Contra - I found this game to be extremely compelling and I always tested myself by trying to beat it as fast as i could without dieing. Also, the co-op is awesome, and it has the most memorable cheat code ever. if you dont's know it, its <font color="#000000">Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A.</font color> The code gave you 30 lives!

2)Tetris - I don't know why, but tetris has always proved to e the most addicting game I've ever played. It just never gets old. Now, with the new DS version, you can play online!

3)Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! - I believe this game was the first game i ever played in which you had to figure out the opponent's weakness to beat. By that, i mean each boxer had a certain thing that they did that told you were they were going to do next. Also, doing certain things to that boxer got you a star on every hit.

Either Super Mario Bros. 3 or Bad Dudes. Are you a bad enough dude to save the president from ninjas!?

Yus! I love that. Hah

Anyways, that game is awesome just for it's main intro.

Bionic Commando is excellent for the gameplay and the fact that the last boss is Hitler.

Duck Hunt is just loads of fun and I still play it to this day.

Tetris keeps me up for hours at night. That game is awesome.

Recently I've been playing Karate Champ with my friend Steve. I always win and the game is just a sweet fighting game for the NES.

My friend Steve also introduced me to Dodgeball for NES. That game is awesome on so many levels as well.

The R.B.I games are sweet, as well as many of the sports games for it.

To make a short story longer, most of the games for the Ninty were good. :D

Super Mario Bros. This was the first video game that I can remember playing and I played it to death. I never had an NES but i played an emulated version on some rip off called Pegasus. It came with like 50 NES games on it built in and it and I remember playing that all day when I was young.

Ending your game.
Even though the number of NES games I've ever played is small, it has to be Super Mario Bros. 3. Rare gems like that show you that quality and greatness can be eternal, no matter how many more games are born after it.

Its a hard pick for me, but I gotta say Kirby's Adventure and Super Mario Bros. 3 Kirby was just so fun and addictive. I spent most of my younger years playing and/or watching people play. SMB 3 I thought was much better than 2, and it was very addictive. The only thing they could've done to make that game perfect was make it a little harder. My brother was able to beat it in a hospital bed when he had pneumonia, and only in three days!

Legend of Zelda:
This was the elite game for its time because non-linear gameplay was unheard of at this time. Plus, it featured 2 QUESTS!!! I thought it was kind of cheap when enemies took as much as 4 hearts from you with one attack though.

Tetris:
This game started the puzzle generation you have to love this game.

Super Mario Bros. 3:
With some many levels and hidden easter eggs like whistles, this game was and IS STILL the ****.

Tecmo Bowl:
Very good football game. I would say it started the Madden franchise.

Super Mario Bros.:
Because of this game, everyone knows Mario. Graphics and ameplay make this a favorite in every gamers collection.

Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels:
Okay, technically, this was released in the Super Mario All-Stars Package, but it still qualifies as a NES game in Japan. This game took me a WHOLE year to finally beat because it was so dang hard.

Life Force:
The cool part of this game was that in was hard and you were inside a Human Body a third of the time. The Levels were: Cell Stage, Mountain Stage, Fire Stage, Cell II Stage, Rocky/Egyptian Stage, Hideout Stage. The ending was especially hard because of how fast the screen moved and all of the walls you could run it to.

Boulderdash:
I loved the MUSIC.

Donkey Kong:
Who could remember the pie factory stage. Classic featuring Jumpman a.k.a. Mario.

That Kung-Fu game.
I forgot what it was called but this mob boss comes and takes your girl and you must punch and kick your way through each floor to get to him.

Whew... That was a lot of games.

Bionic Commando all the way. It's just fun to play. Period.

As a child I was also partial to the Megaman series, Double Dragon II (Loved the co-op), LoZ, and Bubble Bobble.

No NES game has ever really come close to dismantling my favoritism for Super Mario Bros 3. The nearest runner up for my favorite NES title would be Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventure. But after you play SMB3 they both feel incredibly dated and with Kirby also being a platformer, it only shows the superiority Mario games have on the genre.

True. That's and the fact that Mario 3 had better graphics than either of the two.
