It seems that the routine around the brawl section here is for someone to express an idea, or a theory, only to be followed by someone who thinks they're super smart to say "theres no evidence", "thats just speculation" or the ever popular "you fail".

THE GAME IS UNRELEASED!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE WE GONNA SAY IF WE CAN ONLY TALK ABOUT CONFIRMED IDEAS???

Example:
Person 1: So....did you hear? Zero suit samus is in.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah...i heard...
Person 1:Are you going to main her?
Person 2: Nah, i was thinking about Sonic. He seems cool, if he's in.
Person 1: UNCONFIRMED!!! SPECULATION!!! PHAILZZZZZ!!!!!

People do need to lighten up a bit on thihgs, like the example given, but I think what most of it is from is people who say/act that something that's not confirmed is fact. For example, some people are sure that Sheik is in because the TP makers sent them some concept art, and instead of just saying "it might" they act like it's been fully confirmed. (I'm just using a hypothetical here).

I completely agree. I do admit that most of it is regarding people who take these things as gospel (as in your example), but that ratio is shifting. Ideas and concepts aren't even being given a chance by some people.

RazeveX is right. Everyone who disagrees is wrong and probably bad at SHFFLing. Everyone needs to lighten up and just enjoy the discussion. It just seems that people wait for the first chance to shoot down a topic before they even know what its about. I heard nVidia is working on an anti-troll driver for their next line of cards.

And yeah, SWF's Character discussion for Brawl would be pretty lame if there were only character topics for confirmed characters.

99% of the fun is hoping your favorite childhood Nintendo character is going to make an appearance, even as an AT.

There's a huge difference between the two. The possible inclusion of Sonic is supported by facts and a likely chance. The inclusion of Master Chief is supported by...nothing.

If somethings not confirmed people don't need act like it's %100 confirmed. But if it has a high likelyhood of being in there's no reason they shouldn't treat it as such. And by that I mean something that has a high chance of being in the game.

My thinking has been all along that if there is no logical reason to remove something it's going to be in. Wether it's a character or feature of the game. When the sticker update was made it was said that trophies probably wouldn't be in the game. I asked why not? Trophys were a cool part of Melee and there's no reason they can't have both stickers and trophys especially when they are so different.

What did todays update reveal?

Well, i could have seen reasons for stickers replacing trophies (less memory space for example) but personally i always thought we would have both. In stickers' case i admitted that theory as completely possible.

On an unrelated note i'm so looking forward to "maining" Batman... who was apparently confirmed with today's update along with Master Chief, Olimar and Naruto.

I just love how everyone is so convinced that Sonic will be in, when really they have just about nothing to back that up except their own desires, the fact that Sonic has been on the GameCube/Wii, and that he's now in the Mario vs. Sonic game. Sonic technically has the same chance to be in Brawl right now as Master Chief, Batman, Bomberman, MegaMan, etc. I understand that he has a higher chance of being in Brawl then the rest, I'm not aiming that statement at those people. I'm directing it towards the people who say "I can't wait to main Sonic" and "Will Knuckles be in it, too?"

In all honesty, can someone tell me they predicted Solid Snake was going to be a playable character?? The only connection he has to Nintendo is Twin Snakes and the fact that Hideo Kojima loves SSB. Who knows, maybe Marty O'Donnell (Halo's main music/voice director) has an ungodly obession with SSB as well and will demand that the Spartan be inducted.

And everyone says that Tingle, who has been in multiple games, has no chance.
I have always and will still predict that Sonic will NOT be in Brawl. I could be wrong, as that's all it is: a prediction. however, whether he's in it or not will not change the fact that this game will be amazing and that I'm maining Meta no matter what.

And a post like this is exactly why ridiculous threads should exist. It gives us all something to do until December 3rd, when all character-related questsion will be revealed. Please take not of that last sentence. There's no definite answer on whether a character will be in the game or not until he/she/it is either confirmed by Sakurai, or until December 3rd rolls around.

No. Master Chief is inelligable. It's been stated that to be in Smash Bros., you must have been on a Nintendo console/handheld. Master Chief has only been on the XBox and XBox 360.

But I don't think the OP was saying that everything needs a chance. I think he was saying that when someone expresses interest in a character that has a good chance of being in they don't need to be followed by people posting "UNCONFIRMED!"

Now, if he meant that every idea deserves an equal chance I agree with you. That one guy from that NES game that no has heard of and sold 20 copies in Japan won't be a playable character.

The only time that people usually say this is when the other person says that the character is confirmed when they're not, and it's reasonable to tell them that no, the character is not confirmed.

I think the point that needs to be made here is that speculation on who is "likely" to be in the game or not is largely subjective.

Honestly, it makes me cringe every time I see someone with a "Sonic/Ridley/Krystal for Brawl!" sig flaming someone else for their character suggestion, be it tingle or some random pokemon. The real problem here is hypocrites who think their speculation is better than everyone else's.
