Okay we already know that in brawl The mario series and pokemon series brings in the most cash to Nintendo. This following the Zeelda series and then the rest. However which series has the most characters built for a game like Brawl. In otherwords, which series has the most characters that would fit in a smash game. I say pokemon has the most promising characters with the Super Mario and Fire emblem franchise in second. What do you guys think?

Please note that the character has to have a structure alowing him/her to do all the attacks including grabs (so characters like Gordo from the kirby franchise don't really fit). Also this is asuming brawl has like an infinite character selection list. This isn't about the series that should have more characters to boost it's arsenal but the franchise that have the most characters that coul fit in a game like this.

Please post only one first place franchise with all other 2nd - whateverth franchise below at least one line. I might intergrate a chart later on about the most promising franchise.

Mario already brings the most characters and could easily fit more, like the new princess from Galaxy. Pokemon just doesn't bring as much classic or memorable characters.

For franchises that could fit more in, Star Fox has a few they could add, so does Zelda. With the Prime series Metroid could add the new hunters as well. Those are the most promising imo.

Pokemon is a gold mine for unique fighting styles and interesting designs. The Zelda series is also choke full of characters with a lot of personality.
Games like Fire Emblem, I'd place lower on the list, since those don't have a whole lot of variety. That's superficially speaking, of course, but yeah.

I'm really not an expert on major franchises, but Pokemon and Zelda seem the most interesting to me of the bigger ones. That's excluding unlikely franchises like the Tales series...

If we say we have an unlimited number of character roster but we need good characters, i would say that pokemon as a lot to give to us. But now theres Mario with, Geno, Toad (for ssb4), Bowser Jr.

Yeah, Pokemon provides the biggest variety... If you want it to. There are many diverse types that could get some representation for once... Like poison? I was happy to see a Water and Grass type with Pokemon Trainer. I just hope more types get represented if more Pokemon get in. No more electricity Pokemon.. please?

I'd also say Golden Sun has a lot of potential. Really the instant I saw Isaac I thought "Perfect Super Smash Bros. character."

I agree with you 100%. A sword fighting style plus Earth Psynergy would equal to a amazingly unique character addition to Brawl. I really hope Issac makes it in.

I'd have to say Pokemon... There's soooo many different pokemon that could fit into brawl...

For least I'd have to say F-zero or Star Fox because they're confined to a vehicle in most of their games...

I disagree about the pokemon series, I think the pokemon that were in melee are probably gonna be in brawl and if anything changes, its gonna be that they take away some of those, not add more. Why? Because random pokemon like that one that everyone wants on this forum (whats its name again? the fighting one) has no real universal appeal. Only the hardcore pokemon fans will know who he is. With pikachu, mewtwo and jiggly puff, everyone knows who they are. Mewtwo and pikachu had multiple movies based on them.

With that said, I would love to see Isaac or Felix from Golden sun. I dont know much about Isaac because I only played the second game on GBA, but earth psynergy would be a great addition to Felix's sword, so he would have a variety of moves.

Another Metroid character would be great but any of the hunters that appeared in MP3 would have the same problem that the pokemon that I mentioned above did. Most people wouldnt know who they were, only if they played the game would they know who they were. I cant really think of anybody else besides Dark Samus but his chances are slim. Its possible and plausible, but I dont think he is gonna make it. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I cant really think of any other franchises right now.....

I'd say Pokemon, Metroid, and Fire Emblem.

Pokemon-About 90% of pokemon wouldn't fit but the other 10% are pretty sweet. They are really capable movesets and different variety of fighting style. And they use elements too. Which is always a plus.

Metroid-A lot of hunters and enemies, nuff said.

Fire emblem- Yeah there are a lot of sword people but the type and size of sword varies. A couple hector have other stuff like hector axes and lance or whatever epriham has.

I believe the Mario series does.. and I'm also going to include the Wario and Yoshi universes with it.
Characters like Fawful, Wart, Tatanga, Captain Syrup, and even more are perfect for Brawl.

Ahh... That's where you're wrong, my friend! See, Lucario (I take it that's who you're talking about) is very well known. It's a very strong Pokemon in D/P and appeared in a anime movie centered on him.

Mewtwo may return, but I think Munchlax might replace Jigglypuff. I believe the reason Jigglypuff was in 64 and Melee was because the Japanese thought it was awesome. That was 8 years ago. Now it's about the Munchlax.

Incase you're wondering who Munchlax is...

.....Yea the Japanese tend to be insane sometimes.... :\

Agreed. Isaac for Brawl. Felix can be an extra.

The Star Fox series still has a few characters that could have interesting appearances for Brawl.

But I really don't think recognition is always a factor. I mean, look at the original one. I had no idea who Ness or the Ice Climbers were, but they were in there. And in Melee, I didn't know who Sheik was. If I wasn't a Star Fox fan, I wouldn't have been elated over Falco either. Hell, Marth and Roy hadn't been seen by anybody outside of Japan at the time of Melee's release, yet they still gave them two slots that could have been better used.

But I honestly will have to say Mario or Zelda would probably be the most likely to produce the largest quantity of cool characters that I would play as.

Mostly Zelda, Pokemon, and Golden Sun. Most characters in those games have heaps of personality.

Mario and Pokemon are the top two franchises in popularity if I'm not mistaken. 6-7 Pokemon
fighters and 6-7 Mario fighters
should balance things out. Of course, people NEED to understand that the Pokemon used by trainers count as one fighter.

F-Zero has tonnes of characters that could be given fresh attacks (GOGO BLACKSHADOW!)
Fire Emblem also has a wide selection of tasty punching bags like Zihark or Hector
Metroid has alot of characters as well (Sylux, Rundus, Weavel, Trace, Ridley, Dark samus, etc.)
