What Top 3 franchises deserve more than just 1 or 2 more characters and also name the characters that should be included in that franchise.

Mine are

1.Metroid(Ridley)
2.Donkey Kong(K. Rool)
3.Star fox(Krystal) maybe wolf and falco(If not clone)

Honestly I would've said the Kirby franchise, considering the Mario, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and Kirby franchises seem to be the "Key 4" of Smash Bros. (3 biggest selling + Sakurai's own Seems I may be wrong about that, still they seem to emphasise those four the most in the games, particularly since the first three have all had multiple characters from their franchises prior to Brawl, and Kirby still is Sakurai's creation, the official Brawl trailer only furthering that). However it seems that's already been fulfilled with Meta Knight and King Dedede. I think that's really the perfect rep for the franchise now.

As for other franchises, probably Metroid could get one more (not a fan but meh) although from what I've read it seems like slim pickings besides Ridley (Don't hurt me, Dark Samus fanatics ). Even though you've suggested Donkey Kong Country I actually think Diddy was all they really needed. Star Fox yes, Krystal could fit to level out the franchise to atleast 2-3.

One last one I'd like to make mention of, although it's not essentially a franchise, is I think we need another 1 or 2 retro characters. It's just nice to see those 1-off blasts from the past characters, who don't really need anything else from their franchises.

Donkey Kong is the 3rd best selling franchise of Nintedo or something, I think K. Rool should be a character...Prob not going to happen though

Mother definetly needs more characters...Claus!

9th best selling series in the entire world.
Are you sure? I swear people have been throwing around LoZ and Pokemon a lot. If I'm wrong about that, sorry :p I still stand by my thoughts on character reps for the DK franchise, however. DK and Diddy seem like enough to me.

1. MOTHER
2. F-Zero
3. Metroid
Mother doesn't deserve any more characters one possibly two is more than enough for an obscure that only has three games that hasn't had a single one released worldwide and none have recieved that much commericial succsus.
F-Zero is a kind of a minor series and there aren't any characters that could really fit in the role of a playable character, well aside from maybe Samurai Goroh. Deathborn and Black Shadow could work but they would be hard considering no characters in that series have anything to work on.

I blame Nintendo for MOTHER's success.

Setting you up the bomb.
Rather than go overboard on already represented franchises, I'd like there to be more new franchises represented, even if it's just ONE character per series (which in some cases is ALL there is to choose from currently anyway)... Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero, and MOTHER should all get at least one more character though, and perhaps Donkey Kong as well...

F Zero is deserving of more rep. One of the most respectable racers apart from Mario Kart, why shouldn't it get better representation? Granted, it's not on the same level of Mario or LoZ, but it obviously holds some importance if C. Falcon was part of the original 12. For other franchises to be better repped, while F Zero remains with 1 rep for the third game in a row would be disappointing.

Deathborn and Shadow could be provided with movesets easily, Sakurai could provide a stick with a moveset.

None of the racers are that good though, like Black Shadow is just a lame version of the awsomely cool Batman and is nothing but a pitiful pawn, Deathborn is really cool but only appeared in one game.

Black Shadow / Deathborn were merely suggestions. There are so many racers that potentially would work well. Pico, The Skull and my personal fave Octoman are just a few more.

F Zero deserves at least one more rep.

You made a good point, DK can't be third best under his logic

1. Mario
2. Pokemon
3. LOZ
4. Donkey Kong

Unless he is trying to say Mario series is below the others lmao. SMB1 sold more copies alone then probably the whole DK series.

Fire Emblem definitely deserves more representation. Obviously Marth will be back alongside Ike, but for the franchise that created the tactical RPG genre and has comparable popularity in Japan to the Zelda series, not to mention comparable size (discounting remakes) to both Zelda and Pokèmon and growing popularity internationally, two characters certainly isn't enough unless Brawl is as small as our worst fears would have it. There are many good choices for characters from it too - Micaiah, Sigurd, Hector, Leaf; even Roy and the Black Knight if it came down to it. Heck, if he really wanted to surprise us, Ephraim or someone from Gaiden could even be used, or one of the popular secondary characters of Marth or Ike's games (Soren, Mia, Oguma, Jeigan, etc).

Star Fox, although a small series, also deserves its three characters on popularity alone if nothing else. Falco and Krystal definitely need to be in.

DK also should really have one more IMO. Its importance to Nintendo historically is just that great - I mean, its the series that spawned Mario for crying out loud. K Rool is plainly the best remaining choice there.

Right behind you with a knife.
Let's see...

F-Zero deserves another rep, but it won't get it. It's just not the type of series. Their only hope was Goroh, and adding in another character that's worthless just to be an extra representative is a bad idea.

DK is fine where it is. Like the Kirby's big three, Donkey Kong and Diddy fill out everything well enough. That and K. Rool, the most likely DK contender, is really just a bad character. =/

Star Fox, Metroid, and Fire Emblem I think are the types of series that at this point should probably have three characters apiece. You know, like Kirby.

Can't comment on Earthbound, but two seems to be the maximum it should get.

I agree with Zevox on the FE representation. Not many series can say they're on their 10th installment and still be growing in popularity, if not more than it ever did (because it's now international).

Although now that Sakurai has stuffed us full of "Kirby," all the other franchises need to inflate to match it. Pokemon(tho not a fan), FE, StarFox should be getting at least three representatives because they deserve at least equal rep as Kirby.

I don't see it as StarFox(FE/Pokemon) deserving 3 characters, I see it as StarFox(FE/Pokemon) deserving at least equal rep as Kirby, it's all relative. Sakurai inflated the Kirby series, and this is what the consequences are, I hope he doesn't screw it up.

The franchise that deserves more characters is the franchise that offers not only popular characters, but unique character's that would be fun to play as in a fighting videogame.

This is probably why Mario and Pokemon have so many representatives. Here's who I think, however, should at least receive 1 more rep:

1.Starfox
2. DK
3. LoZ

No franchise that has been in it since 64 should have only one rep.

I don't wanna turn this to a K. Rool debate thread but what exactly makes him a bad character?

Also saying DK and Diddy fills the franchise well enough is like saying just Kirby and Meta Knight fill their franchise well enough and that they didn't even need King De De De. K. Rool is like what De De De is to the kirby games. An important character and main boss to the series.
K. Rool deserves some recognition again since he hasn't had it for quite some time.

To add onto this:

I'd say Mother is worthy of having two characters (specifically, Lucas and Ness). I mean, Sakurai is expressing interest in expanding those franchises that didn't receive a great deal of representation in the original and/or Melee, so why not give Mother the same treatment?

Mario and Pokemon are the cash cows for Nintendo, so they each deserve another new character. People need to understand, these are *very* lucrative franchises for Nintendo, so it makes sense that they'd receive much representation in the SSB series. Saying that Pokemon and/or Mario are over-repped is pretty ignorant, in my opinion, and shows a lack of common sense. You include more of the very popular characters, your game is going to do better. Very simple concept.

I'd also like to see at least one other retro character added to the roster (specifically Balloon Fighter, since I think he'd be a pretty interesting and unique character). The retro characters provide variety in the character selection, not to mention a blast of nostalgia for the older gamers (i.e. not me :p) among us.
