What does it mean when people refer to "teching"?

Sheik gets a stage spike on Fox and the commentators go "NO TECH".

What is "tech"able about this situation? My understanding was that teching refers to hitting L right as you hit the ground so you can roll or stand up immediately.

You can also tech against walls and ceilings, which would help against getting stage spiked
