I know there are many ideal starters like Bulkydos, Gengar, Weavile, Mence, but what do you think is a good starter?...Tanks, Sweepers, Baton Passers...etc?

I usually start with Bulky DD Gyarados because he can screw walls with taunt, intimidate weavile and physical Salamence, **** ninjask and can very often take 2-3 pokes out easily.

What do you use and why?

I lead w/a DD Gyara. Why? I don't really know...maybe so I can work on predicting when to switch Electivire in to take the Thunderbolts/Thunder Waves.

JUST TO WORK ON MY CRAPPY PREDICTION SKILLZ. :)

DD gyara is a good lead, with intimidate + taunt. Actually, on my new team, I'm using a bulky crobat with taunt, hypnosis, roost, and rain dance. Taunt ruins support leads, hypnosis ruins sweeper leads, roost to heal, rain dance... because I'm experimenting with a rain dance team.

Specsmence is an awesome lead, because if they think it's something else, they lose someone off the bat, and forces out their special walls, so I can figure out who is needed to take out before it can sweep.

Gyarados is my most common one, though.

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Intimidate: Adamant
216 Attack, 60 Defense, 232 Speed
Waterfall
Stone Edge/ Return
Dragon Dance
Taunt/ Earthquake

Life Orb Gyara?...Isnt that kind of risky, Gyara is supposed to last because of its bulkyness to sweep

I usually start with Swampert or Jolteon, but lately I've been having fun with Lickilicky.

Honestly, the last three moves are filler 90% of the time. I almost always explode first turn, unless I'm fighting Skarm,Forretress, etc. It's just funny to blow up their Mixmence or Gyarados first turn because I'm sure they're on the other end like "WTF just happened". It saves me from alot of headaches and guessing games down the road as well.

I usually start with the fastest, most aggressive, and most delicate one on the team...Goes fast, does damage, leaves a nice dent for the opening. When it dies, I bring out a counter. Thats what I do for non-weather based teams anyway.

Cool thread, was getting seriously bored with the "what's your fav" stuff.

And I like whiterob's lickilicky, that thing is cool.

It's still pretty **** bulky. It can ake hits and DD up, outspeeding 125 base pokemon and allowing for a sweep. This stops Weavile starters, Swampert starters(with taunt), outspeeds and ohko's Starmie switch-ins after a DD, and many more. It also beats other Gyarados starters. Hippowdon is useless.

Mixpert because he screws up a lot.

Could someone give me a common lead MixPert loses to?

My Choice Scarf Roserade owns any Swampert starter.

Roserade @ Choice Scarf
Natural Cure: Modest
252 Special Attack/ Speed, 4 w/e
Leaf Storm
HP Ice
Weather Ball (used with Tyranitar)
Toxic Spikes

Yes, Choice Scarf Toxic Spikes. Unusual, but it works on the switch.

Hmm..Honestly, I've always felt Roserade was horrible. STAB grass, which can be good ocassionally, but I just feel it lacks the stats/movepool to actually do anything.
