You know, re-evaluatiing your old party to fit in for DP can be a real pain. Lots of those tiny details have changed...we gots lots of mixed attackers jumpin to one side, physical and special walls are doing a little rethinking too, movesets have changed: some previously acceptable moves are garbage with some pokemon now and others came outa nowhere. Not that there were a lot of HUGE differences, but those little things can add up. Older pokemon gained new enemies with new toys (curses upon focus bomb and nasty plot!) and gyrados gots a shiny new aqua tail (YES!). So, what I wanted to know was, what do you guys think of some of these pokemon i'm going to list off to you? First, detail how usable you thought they were in the previous generation, and then detail how they are now (however, for those new DP pokemon, i think it's obvious that we can't really say how they were in FR/LG). It'd be nice to mention those things like Movesets, Battle Roles, How EV's should be distributed, ability, hold items, nature, blah blah blah...

Let's give an example.

Garchomp.
The Land shark...pshh...

How do you think this things gonna change the competitive scene?
You think it'll outdo Mence, Dragonite, Ttar, Metagross..?
What about different battle roles for Garchomp? What do you find most effective?
Where should those ****ed EV's go with each battle role?
Moveset possiblities?
Natures?

That kinda thing. Now lemme shut up and give you the first wave of Pokemon I wanna hear about.

i think Infer-**** has alot of potential for OU play, although i'm not sure if it will break through in the early scene. its fast...and powerful in both physical and special..and it is specifically dangerous against Blissey, Skarmory, tyranitar, etc.
IMO is like a better version of blaziken.

i think w/ all the new steel and psychics, heracross will improve in use.

i don't think garchomp will ever be as good as the other dragon pokemon w/out his precious dragon dance :/ his earthquake is deffinately admirable, and he's prolly gonna be a popular sweeper at first, but i like to think of him as a dugtrio w/out sandtrap.

empoleon isn't that great. his steel type really limits his use since he's so vulnerable to ground..and especially fighting, since now all pokemon can either close combat or focus blast or some **** nowadays :/

gengar is now better?..optional shadowball now and sludgebomb now?

i think dusknoir though was a bad idea...dusclops was already awesome...and now i'm gonna abuse the **** outta dusknoir. poor banette though...

Cheah, gengar did get sludge bomb, but since when was poison some super crazy offensice type anyway? it hardly hits anything for supereffective damage, it's resisted by tons, and those super popular steel types don't take anything from it. Focus Bomb is a *****, i agree...

banette should have gotten an evolution shouldn't it? what with the explosion of ghost types...
mismagius, dusknoir, gengar, giratina...driftblim, rotom (that *****!), and stupid frickin SPIRITOMB!

empoleon was a good idea, but the exxegution...he's not that good.

and heracross is gonna **** w/ choice scarf

choice scarf is going to change the game completely, not knowing which pkmn will have cs will force people to play very careful, but i think blissey is going to be most impacted, too many very fast and very strong physical pkmn came around the block this time and i think they might put an end to it also LOOK AT ALL THESE GROUND POKES!!! earthquakes will be everywhere.

Torterra-is too good..hes going to rock some peoples sox, seriously...hes got better than average speed and just plain murders with his earthquake, possible Moveset
Leech Seed
Curse
Earthquake
Synthesis (only if your going the annoying route)
He also will handle blisseys.

IF you havent figured it out yet, im annoyed by blissey..**** Netbattle noobs!

Alakazam gets a nice boost with Shadow ball in my opinion, not to mention moves that have already bin mentioned.

Skeptile, not much has change for him really. Looses leaf blade but can still have Giga drain, also gains engergy ball, and the all powerful leaf storm.

Salemence recieved a mass boost, now that his already high physical attack will go towards not only dragon claw, but dragon rush as well. I predict same evs for Salemence, attack and speed. Although with garchomp in the mix, speed might become more of an importance to outrun it. So maby focusing on maxing speed first?

Umbreon... oh I love Umbreon. Some powerful fighting moves have been thrown into the mix to make him shudder, but his defences and special defences are still high enough to handle them. With the addition of assurance, he gets at least a boost in offence, which he didn't really have before.

Swampert has become a bigger threat due to his now physical water move in waterfall, and as we all know, water moves were crappy on swampert before due to his lower special attack. He also gets the added boost of arm hammer to slow down his opponents while getting a hefty hit on them.

For the pokes ive mentioned, i don't see a change in evs yet, besides the one i said about Salemance, since garchomp is already swarming the wifi battle tower.

I hope Celebi is either banned this gen or is much easier to counter. I don't care what people say about it's 4x weakness to bug, I don't like having to make every team carry some quick bug user just so I don't get ***** by a Celebi.
