Fox & falco's reflectors each go by the shine. It's an age old term dating back to ... a really long time ago ... probably back to the original SSB, ppl used shinespiking back then, don't know if they called it that though.
I saw the beginning of this thread title in the char specific boards: "what do you call falco..." and i thought it was going to be a joke like: "what do you call falco that such and suches?" and it was going to have a hillarious (actually it probably would have been ********, but i was hoping) punchline.

The term shine was coined by a tournament player... I forget his name, though some of the more long time smashers will probably remember.

I believe his main was Fox.

Back in the day, shining wasn't considered a lethal technique. People just thought of it as a reflector. This particular player, though, was the first to use it in excess. (I think)

It was dubbed "Shine" because whenever this guy would go to tournaments, he would wear a shiney sequinned shirt.

That's my understanding of the origin of "Shine". Maybe someone else can confirm/deny me?

I actually call it reflector if you're using it to reflect stuff, and shine if your hitting people with it.

No im not technical about it or anything, i'm just quirky like that. :/
