I heard a LOT of anger and salt going around about this game.
Can someone care to explain to me why it's so bad or why people hate it? Maybe you actually liked the game and you feel that people should cut it some slack. Maybe your in between!

Anyway, whatever your opinion is, tell me! If you want to let out some anger in about the game, feel free to do it here!

This is going to be a very long post, but I'll give my opinion it.

I guess I'll start off with its history. Mega Man games haven't been made at Capcom, and this was the game by Inafune (former Capcom employee) to stick it to Capcom. They began a Kickstarter to help bring back that classic goodness that fans wanted. The video channeled a lot of that energy and even did a good job on making people fond of the series fund this kickstarter (me being one of them). While being very successful, things took a snag, problems happened. Stretch goals were created but people wondered if this was all feasible. Being ported to so many consoles, people wondered was this really wise? Also people weren't happy with the game's art direction not looking like one of the proposed concept art for the game. They didn't promise that it'd look like that, but the actual game did not look pretty.

The game got funded and even reached over a million dollars from what I remember. We were waiting for it and more bad things happened for the team and how it was perceived. Game got delayed, Inafune announced another Kickstarter (Red Ash) before MN9 was completed, Inafune discussed talks of a sequel and other media, it was poorly handled. When the game was finally set to release, it received another delay. Network problems made them delay it, a stretch goal most didn't care for. Everything else was completed, but it couldn't be shipped. The game finally released and I guess I'll give my impressions.

First off, the game is not awful. But it's not the game that it lived up to be. After 3 years and over a million dollars, it doesn't live up to people's expectations. Visually, game is still ugly. I can get past it, but it is what it is. The problem is it didn't need to look visually amazing, it felt like they were just being sloppy with it and didn't care. The gameplay? It's alright at best. Dash mechanics by killing enemies with it doesn't interest me. Infinite air dashing ruins some platforming. Level designs lack a lot of polish. Enemies aren't too interesting and the diversity isn't quite there. The game mostly relies on cheap deaths rather than something more solid or fun.

The stages aren't too fun to replay. The stage design just feels mediocre while being littered with a lot of ideas that harm it overall. I'm actually pretty good at Mega Man games, so I had no issues completing the stages, personally. The stages just feel more like a chore if anything else though.

Overall the game isn't awful. Even ignoring the history that plagues this game, I don't think it's anything exciting. If I had to sum it up in one word, it'd be forgettable.

Mighty No. 9 lacks the charm of a Mega Man game. The game is already a knockoff of the Mega Man series, but it's unfortunate that the gameplay had to feel like an inferior version of it too.

Sometimes, being forgettable is worse than being bad. At least a bad game can be used as an example to show how not to make a video game. A forgettable game didn't do much wrong, but also didn't do much right either. What's to enjoy or learn when you play a game like that?

Mighty NO.( main issue is that is no where near a Megaman at the core.

Megaman was platform shooter that actually challenged you as player with simple but difficult challenges.

Mighty No9. borrows Megaman mechanics but in the end its just arcade platform shooter. It emphasize on scoring than overcoming platform hurdles and boss puzzles. Their complex challenges but their more design for you to push the mechanic limitation and score high than be a hurdle to over come.

Mighty No. is more of Azure striker Gunvolt than MM game. Reason its not praise like its predecessor is because ANIME style normally is prefer in these nich like games. Their also the fact most people wanted MM series to grow along with them and not stay child friendly hence why people love X, Megaman zero, ZX series more so.

in the end Mighty No. is solid arcade plat former but that not what megaman was, but then that not what Mighty No.9 was suppose to be either.

When I first heard about that game in the Mega Man social, I got pretty interested in it.
Then I heard some mixed to mostly negative reaction about it over the years, I got pretty hesitant.
And when the game came out and saw the reviews, not interested.

I don't see the problem with "arcade" platformers... It's an evolution of the old Megaman games' way of handling difficulty. The old games you had to get good at the stages to beat them, but in ASGV it's set up so anybody can win but you need to master the stage for a good rank. Honestly getting S+ in ASGV is harder then what the classic series was.

Though Gunvolt does offer a more traditional difficulty mode... Not just the Steam version either. After you get the true ending and unlock the gauntlet stages then the broken pendant item carries over to a new game (while being unlocked on the old file) and it disables auto dodges and reduces your HP to what it is at level 1. It's possible to get overall S+ with the default equipment and no skills too if getting overall S+ with extra stuff was too easy, lol.

Back to MN9, I think it's overall a good concept but poor execution. There's really no excuse for it though...

I haven't picked up the game, since the criticism has killed my enthusiasm for it. I might pick it up in a Steam sale some day, though.

Although from what I can tell it's really not a terrible game, it's just kind of bland, forgettable and mediocre.

Like a vast majority of Mega Man games TBH.

While I haven't played the game, I know enough about the history and have seen footage of the game to make an opinion.
When I first heard of MN9, I was happy for Mega Man fans. After the numerous cancelations of many Mega Man games, I thought Capcom simply didn't care anymore. So when MN9 was announced and was going to be made by one of the creators of Mega Man, I thought the game had some promise. I wasn't interested in the game because I am not a Mega Man fan; the games aren't my cup of tea so to say.
...Then the game got delayed numerous times. I was doubtful the game was going to be released. When that infamous trailer was shown, I couldn't help but think what the hell happened. The game looked worse than it did years ago (I know it's an indie game, but what I saw years ago looked much better than the final product; I can't like it in a stylistic sense because of how bland it looked) and the gameplay looked unimpressive, even as a Mega Man-inspired game. Reviews then came out and there was a lot of controversy over the release, such as it breaking Wii U systems, how certain download codes weren't working, and the Xbox 360 version being delayed most likely indefinitely.
While I didn't support the game nor did I feel invested in the project, I can't help but feel disappointed. Mega Man hasn't received a new entry for so long and this is how you repay Mega Man fans? I feel like the developers were riding off the success of the Kickstarter rather than making a good game. They focused more in Mighty No. 9 being the next big thing and expecting it instead of making a decent product and ironing out bugs.
MN9 has put doubt over other Kickstarter games. While Bloodstained and Yooka-Laylee look pretty good so far, I just hope they can live up to their expectations, but I think they are in the right hands; the former is very open about the project and the latter is being made by competent people. Even after MN9, we cannot forget that there were good games that came from Kickstarting, such as Shovel Knight and Undertale.

tl;dr MN9 was a disappointment for Mega Man fans and even I felt disappointed. The developers focused too much on the success and expected success rather than making the game better. Mega Man fans deserve better than this after many years of neglect. Bloodstained and Yooka-Laylee will have some doubt now because of Mighty No. 9, I feel like they are in the right hands. We cannot forget about other great Kickstarter games either, like Shovel Knight and Undertale.

When they first announced Mighty No. 9, I was really hyped! The game looked crisp and fun just like the Mega Man games from back then.

However, as time went on and as the game was being developed... It looked as if it took a turn for the worst. Somehow, when the game finally released, it was almost a completely different game then what we saw in the trailers or played at e3. The game wasn't horrible, just disappointing. Just minutes after playing it, I don't think I could continue... it became less of a game, and more of a chore. I didn't mind the graphics too much, with some exceptions *cough* pizza explosions *cough*.

tl;dr
MN. 9 was just disappointing and wasn't really worth the wait. The kickstarter raised 4M$ and that was just thrown away for what could've been an amazing game.
