What Color Is This Dress?

Alright, really weird phenomenon going on here, this picture was taken (shown below), and half of the people who see it see that the dress as gold and white, whereas the other half see the dress as black and blue. Please record your answers in the poll if you would be so kind, and feel free to discuss.

First i saw it as white and gold, but when I covered the bright edges of the picture with my hands and looked at it, it turned into black and blue version. Shame, 'cause it looked better in white in my opinion.

I see it as White and Gold at night, and Blue and Black in the day.

And if I look at it on my phone it is always blue and black.

The picture itself is overly saturated and the color balance is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off so even if the dress was blue/black, the picture can still be made to look like it is gold/white. Similar to instagram filters.

I've also seen the update revealing that it was blue and black.

The main fabric was blue to my eyes, so I went with blue and black. I've received zero prizes.

This is merely a trick on vision, as where our brain imagines the dress in different locations, and under what light.

Where do you see this dress? In a store by an open window? In a room with orange-yellow lighting? How bright is your screen? Just how dim is the environment around you? How do your eyes see color versus others'?
All of these contribute to the differentiation in color among people. Our brains compensate some colors for other colors based on the lighting, dimness, and tint and hue of literally every aspect of a photo.

It definitely interesting to see the different perspectives of the dress, but there are scientific explanations of course.
