Last update before the weekend, and it’s my new favorite Stage, and appears to be tournament legal. It’s the town of Smashville from Animal Crossing.

Just like Animal Crossing, the time of day changes with the Wii’s internal clock, so if you’re smashing at 5pm, it’s going to start to get dark.

As you can see, the “people” in the crowd also change. From regulars like Tom Nook and the people that turned up one day a week, like Gracie. All I can say is Redd had better watch out, because if I can, I’m chucking a bob-omb at him.

And it’s not just the people that changes either. As you can see, Brewster’s setup a ringside Cafe.

What I find truely brilliant is in Animal Crossing, at 8pm on Saturdays you’d find Totake, or K.K. Slider, who’d play you a song to take home and store in your radio. And if you play BRawl at that time, guess who’s there

Could there be other events that happen at diferent times? Will the weather also change with the Wii’s internal clock? Does the fact that there’s the Animal Crossing’s Leaf Logo mean that there’s an Animal Crossing character? Who knows?

This is really awesome, I like how Sakurai is putting more life into the stages. They always seem to be active, but on the downside they’re all basically flat and kind of basic. This is an exception to the i think fire emblem stage and parts of the Isle Delphino stage. A Animal Crossing Character, who would it be? It can’t be Tom Nook, K.K sliders or such, their in the background and having a human from Ac playing just doesn’t work. In my opinion I believe what sakurai is doing just works. I think some franchises for Nintendo don’t work for cases, like AC for characters and in my opinion F-Zero for stages, what other stage could you have besides what you have for melee. That’s why the mario kart stage is so remin isent to the F-Zero stage. also some franchises don’t deserve either, Devil’s world for example and at most should only give item or trophy (If they’re in this game). I’d like to see a stage for Ballon Fighter here, or maybe a plain Nintendo stage with a mix of franchises, something like what Tetris DS did of sorts.

As much as I hate to think it, the fact that there is now an Animal Crossing stage (and logo/icon) does lead me to believe that there will be an AC character.
Now, I don’t know much about AC but my first impression is that none of the characters seem suited for a fighting game.

I’d like to hear any arguments for an AC character though, as I’m not too familiar with the franchise.

Rupe there really is no argument for a AC character. They’re as much of fighters as R.O.B. is. Plus all the cast is on the stage watching you battle causing even more eveidence that there won’t be a AC brawler. Of course the human character may be in the game but because of the diverse nature of him/her I doubt it plus some humans are in the backgrolund as well. I can’t see why people think that just because a seies got a stage that they have to have a playable character. This is a new smash where the game isn’t just about it’s popular franchises but it’s history all together.

Well if there was going to be an Animal crossing character I thought it was going to be Tom Nook because I’ve been seeing some good movesets for him. But now I guess Nook just got the boot.

This stage is so sweet looking, but I do have to agree that the stages are seeming rather flat and often include only one platform. However we’ve only seen what 5 or 6 stages? This is just the tip of the iceburg.

An animal crossing character would be interesting. It seems like there would be limited moves though considering you could only do things in the game using the tools. Fishing rod, shovel, axe, net, watering pail that’s atleast all the a or b moves taken care of. Perhaps placing furniture or realeasing bugs? Oh or pulling out various fruits like peach turnips or something. I suppose its possible.

I can’t wait for Brawl to come out so we can actually find all this stuff out!

Whoa, its like sakurai can read my mind. Every thing i want is it the game but even better that i thought. Smash is shaping up to be a truly legendary game and we probably have not seen anything yet.

hmm… has anyone noticed that in the picture the platform seams to be moving? also an interesting thing they could do with this stage is have the people in the background throw items at you, good and bad.(eg. brewer could throw coffee that would count as food, crazy redd could throw small bombs at you, etc, etc.

What kind of move is a water pail or a net? What your going to rinse them all to death. The AC avatar just isn’t smash worthy. I’m saying this as a fellow brawler, because I like Animal Crossing. but to me the stage is good enough

the whole animal crossing cast got the boot because who (that’s important) isn’t in these screens. It just wasn’t meant to be.

Wait I made a mistake, Mr. Resetti is not in the screens, but the chances of him being a playable character are at the same odds as diglett

This is a really interesting concept for a stage, and it shows some pretty interesting detail by using the internal clock, but honestly, the layout on the actual stage is really simple and boring. In fact, when I stop to think about it, I realize that most of the fields so far, while they look good, don’t have much strategy to them. Some could even just be summed up as “Platform + smaller platform(s) above + movie screen in back = level”. I hope the simplicity of the levels shown so far doesn’t seriously impact the gameplay…

Don’t give me that shaz homelessvagrant. What the heck kind of move is bacon, a bucket, a yoyo, or shine for that matter. You can’t automatically disbar something because YOU don’t think it’s conventional.

Well there are some things added to some stages like Eldin (bombs) and the yoshi stage (ghosts, tilting platform, and shyguys). Of course there’s also the courses from the Tokyo video like Mario Kart, Kid Icarus stage, Fire emblem* stage, and pokemon stadium which so altogether so far look fun.

Also maybe this minimilist approach will work out for the better,
think tournaments.

I believe these plain stages may be the online equivalent of the Mario kart ds stages you could play on online while the others being courses you can’t. It’s something to think about.

Kirbykid if you’re reading jot this down becuse Smash might take on the Mario Kart ds route of online play

you do make a good argument FMatt, in that light you are true. maybe look at it this way, with the AC avatar what would be his up B, what would he look like, do they want to put in a create a charcter option so one character can make it into brawl (If they do that it would be best for the Mii’s), on the selection screen what would they call him/her. In classic mode what would they announce Him/Her as

If the Avatar was a playable character than why do they have humans in the background. On yoshi stages they don’t have Background yoshi’s or Poke’mon with background Pikachu’s

Please understand that I’m not saying it isn’t possible, just unlikely. You have to go into the Developers head to figure this out, and with what we’ve seen so far…It just doesn’t seem right for the AC character to be in brawl. trust me i’d be stoked if it was true. I’d like to cast out my fishing rod to grapple solid snake so I could throw him to the waste side. It just doesn’t work.

I think all the crazy levels are going to0 be saved for last and also, in my opinion, the best levels in melee were the simple ones. No one really liked samus’s stages or captn falcons stages cause they moved to much. But thats just my opinion…which is the only one that matters

well how about my idea of the people throwing stuff at you? that would add some extra spice to a rater plain stage, right? i don’t know much about about a.c. because iv never bought it, even though iv been meaning to for years, (sigh) so dont criticize me if this idea makes no sense.

i agree a pikmin stage would be awesome it could be like flat land in the sense that it would fill the whole screen with two platforms to the left and right and that weight thing from pikmin 2 in the middle and in the background pikmin could run in and out of the screen doing random things eg. pulling up grass, fighting dwarf red bulborbs, run quickly across the screen with there heads on fire etc. that would make for a awesome stage with a great background

It looks like there are a lot of neutral stages in Brawl. Maybe not. Now I won’t be bored playing the same six stages every time with a tiny bit of variety as counterpicks.

the new stage is funny,,,lol,,,and k.k. slider could be an alright brawl character,,smacking people around with his guitar + i don’t recall there being a stage that isn’t strictly smash bros. that didn’t have a character….

well, battlefield wasn’t for any character but i guess it was for smash itself… also, if we have some non character stages we can have more total game related things things then characters, right?

Yeah your right, they could make a tetris stage and whatnot, but maybe there will be animal crossing assist trophies

The stage looks awesome but i wish they show something diferent next time, bigger maybe and not so flat with simple platforms. Those stages rock that’s for sure but i want to see something diferent..
A pikmin stage would be great! I can really imagine captain Olimar as a playable character actually.. =|

whould omar throw pikman and controll the monsters. The best addition that is a longshot though, is resident evil in brawl. Imagine the stages and characters that could be in it! Nintendo prob thinks its too violent though

a raccoon suit as an item would be great it could let you jump like 5 or 6 times like Kirby except bigger jumps! i dont know about a frog suit since theres no swimming but there could be a blue shell thing like in new super mario bros.

I seriously like the idea of Tanooki mario, he can fly, turn into stone, and do the tail attack. That would make him a really neat addition. I just want to see the flying fortress from Mario 3 as a stage. It would be like rainbow cruise but bigger, no pit stops and stocked with cannons and bullet bills. they can also do the multiple flying fortresses (they were smaller of course) like in World 8 of Mario 3. That would be beyond awesome.

Awe you don’t like animal crossing v_v. But the world is so beautiful and all the characters are so cute ^_^. It’s a riveting good time.
