Weird feature of shutter stepping

I play Ganondorf sometimes.

I tried out shutter stepping

I found out a feature

You don't really have to be fast on turning back then smash the c-stick forwards. You can turn back and look back for as long as you want then when you smash the c-stick, bam it's still causes the same result.

Is this new? Sorry if this is old.

I often use the delayed stutter step to punish approaches (i.e. walk away, expect an attack, smash in the other direction). The extra distance boost is from facing backwards, not how quickly you face backwards.

This is ancient.
