Waveshining 'too fast' = no Waveshining?

I used to practice my SHFFL into Waveshining daily(ish), and was very satisfied with the results I obtained. After about a week of non-practising, I picked up my controller again, and well :ohwell::

- my SHFFL was still OK,
-my Waveshining was -suprisingly- faster than ever (most of the times one only saw those blue sparks; an achievement for me), though a little shorter.

However, I couldn't 'SHFFL -> Shine -> Wavedash -> Whatever' any more. My Fox somehow just stuck to the shine. Seemingly he didn't want to follow my inputs .

The first reason I could think of was that I had become too fast. I soon realised that it was a non-sense though, considereng how fast pros do things on their controllers.

So my question is: do I suck or is there very little lag when hitting the opponent with the shine?

If anyone can think of another more likely reason, he/she is of course welcome.

your fingers might be moving too fast and missing a button press or something. the goal is speed and precision. not just speed. if you have to go a little slower and be more precise, thats what you should do.

If you're waveshining on an actual character, there is a bit of hitlag from the shine, which means that you'd actually have to wavedash a bit later. If you've perfected your waveshine without a dummy, then I suppose the hitlag could throw you off.

Thanks to both :)

I thought so too, but it's actually surprising that it got faster -thus worse- without doing anything.

Let's keep practising then

I JUST had the same problem last friday. You're moving too fast, that is all.
