wavedashing out of shields

How exactly do I wavedash out of shields? I tried it with my Marth vs. Sheik, but when she hits the shield there's a bit of lag where I can't drop it and then wavedash. Help please.

i dont find it too useful with marth but i am sure others think it is godly

you have to know how much lag time there is for the attacks (or at least have a good guesstimate) The moment you can jump out of your shield after being attacked is the same moment you can start the wavedash.

Yeah, it won't do you much good against a sheik unless you're trying to retreat. That is, unless it's her downsmash in which case you can wavedash forward for a grab. Same goes for the other multi-hitbox Dsmashers.

i think theres 18 frames before you can jump out shield for the wavedash but i,m not entirely sure

Wait a minute. why wavedash when the knockback of the actual strike (when guarded) will make marth slide back far enough for a tipped strike anyway? or will it at all?
