I would like to make a general warning to everyone on several topics:

1. Arguments over why Smasher was banned from the Galaxy server
2. Arguments involving Smasher/other people on smashboards
3. Excessive advertisement & thread spam

To all those involved in the argument over why Smasher was banned from Galaxy, stop arguing in the 64 boards. Everyone is tired of every thread turning into an argument over why he was banned. We don't care why he was banned. We don't care why he disagrees with it. We don't care what he thinks about the admins of those boards. We just don't want to read anymore of those arguments.

So a warning to everyone involved:

DO NOT DISCUSS THIS IN THE 64 BOARDS ANYMORE!!! Failure to abide by this will result in infractions for trolling/spam, and if done enough times, will result in a ban (we can IP ban, including proxies, so don't think you can override the ban). If someone brings this up, ignore it. They will be infracted, the post will be edited out by me, and we can all just ignore it and forget it ever happened.

If anyone wants to discuss this, do so by private message, instant messages, email... anything but the 64 boards. Everyone is tired of it, and no one should have to suffer through reading through these posts.

This includes calling the server itself stupid.

To everyone involved with arguments with Smasher/other people (Smasher, you are being warned as well, as you are in the arguments), please stop arguing on the 64 boards. As with the server arguments, no one wants to read through multiple posts of arguments, flaming, trolling, and just general spam. If anyone feels the need to argue a certain topic, please resort to pm's, instant messaging, or email, and NOT the 64 boards. We don't care what happened, or why it happened. We just don't want to read through posts of arguments.

So a warning to everyone involved:

DO NOT ARGUE (over stupid stuff) ON THE 64 BOARDS. Failure to abide by this will also result in infractions for spam/trolling. If someone starts an argument, ignore it, and I will infract the person, edit out the post, and we can all move on.

Arguments will include:

-Calling someone a noob (or similar) in an attempt to start, or continue an argument.
-Calling someone stupid (or similar) in an attempt to start or continue an argument.
-Other similar things (I think we're all smart enough to know what is included in this list).

So... summary:

DO NOT ARGUE ON THE 64 BOARDS. No one wants to (or should be forced to) read through pages of arguments over something stupid. Failure to do so will result in an infraction, and if it happens enough times, will result in a ban.

Another point that I would like to warn everyone about is excessive advertisement and thread spamming. Smasher is the most recent obvious example of this, advertising his emulator / texture hacks, but I have seen other people do this as well... though I can't think of any examples at the moment. If you want to advertise something related to smash 64 (that you are allowed to advertise and are not going against the smashboards rules), then make a thread, and leave it at that. Do not go to every thread slightly related to your topic and post a link (whether it's a smashboards link, youtube link, or any other link). If it is related to the topic (don't push this... I'm sure you're all smart enough to know if something is related to the topic enough to post it somewhere), then fine, post it. Otherwise, just... don't.

If something was advertised that obviously derails from the thread, you will be infracted for spam (or given a warning).

Ok... I think this is enough for now. I am trying to be a lenient mod, but with recent events, I've noticed I have been way too lenient on certain topics, so to everyone out there, this is your first and FINAL warning on all of these topics. Everyone is getting tired of reading posts like these (I am really getting annoyed with them). So... yeah. You have been warned.

DO NOT USE THIS THREAD TO CONTINUE ARGUMENTS, OR EXPLAIN WHY THEY WERE NECESSARY. ANY OTHER ARGUMENTS CAN BE TAKEN AWAY FROM THE 64 BOARDS.

And to those of you who were not involved in any of this, and had to read all the posts, as the 64 mod, I am sorry to all of you. I should have done this sooner, so it is my fault that it has gone this far (I do take some responsibility for this). But hopefully this solves the problem.

If you want to report a post as 'spam' or something, send me a pm. I will respond to it in a very short time (the 'report post' works as well... except the only notification I get is by email, and I check that like once a month... so pm will be more efficient). Please do not make a post responding to the 'spam' message... as it just won't end up being for the better. I will take care of the messages myself.

ALL THESE WARNINGS WILL TAKE EFFECT STARTING NOW.

Thank you for reading, and hopefully we can have a more peaceful time here.

Any questions about what is not allowed, or any questions in general, send me a pm.

It's not really your fault, haters gonna hate.

You should lock this thread so nobody posts flames or derogatory comments.

nice colour scheme btw

Ugh, I've reported a ton of posts (via the button) already, now it seems that it was for close to nothing. :(

I'd appreciate a clarification of the "no arguing" rule. Taken to its logical conclusion, it would mean that any time two people on these boards had a difference of opinion, they'd have to resort to PM's, depriving the rest of us of whatever useful info could be gleaned from this "argument". example:

Person: Hey, I really think that DK's recovery is better than Samus'.
Person 2: Really? I've always been of the opinion that samus had greater horizontal range, and good priority on her up-B. I think hers is better.
Person1: Keep in mind DK's invincibility frames. Those are useful
Person 3: That's silly. DK is really easy to edgeguard
Mod: *Scrub* *triple-infract*

That's a stupid example, but the first one I could think up. Imagine that they were arguing about something important and contentious instead.

Also, while excessive advertisement should be prohibited, I really think that one thread talking about the hack you've done should be allowed. By the definition you gave up there, it almost sounded like, for example, Ownasaurus' thread would be locked and he infracted.

from teh OP

-Calling someone a noob (or similar) in an attempt to start, or continue an argument.
-Calling someone stupid (or similar) in an attempt to start or continue an argument.
-Other similar things (I think we're all smart enough to know what is included in this list).

The argument you gave doesn't fall under any of those. Arguing about game related things, without taking it uber seriously and flaming those you disagree with, won't get you infracted.

dun worry.

Thank you!!! It was getting annoying seeing those arguments in every thread.

@ battlecow:

There is a clear obvious difference between arguing and debating. Debating is fine, and encouraged. As said in the first post, I think we are all smart enough to know what arguing is.

And as for excessive advertisement, a single thread is fine (like Ownasaurus's thread). But... well, smasher advertising his texture hack in almost every thread is not.

As said, I think we can all be smart enough as to what is fine and what is not, and if there are any questions, just ask me.

Actually, reporting posts is still very encouraged. Even if Blue Yoshi can't get to it, me or one of the super moderators, senators or administrators will follow up to it.
