Then you're doing it wrong!

No not really, Wario's boost smash is something different. What you want to do cancel your dash attack into your upsmash. I'm sure it's listed in the tactical discussion stickies.

To dash cancel upsmash: dash then hit down on the cstick(tilts or smashes works) and then up smash, the timming is tricky at first, but once you get the timing down, its really not that bad.
