Wario Waft is explosive?

I was facing a CPU Wario with Pokémon Trainer, about 4 minutes into the fight Charizard was out.

I used F-tilt and sweetspotted Wario just as he was going to use wario waft (he'd just left the ground when it hit).
Then there was an explosion as if I'd hit a blast box and we were both KOed.

I haven't been able to re-create this yet. Has this happened to anyone else?

It just means you hit him after the waft hitbox was out but before the animation was out... I love getting kills like that, makes people wtf a lot

Unless you mean there was an actual explosion animation... to which I can only say that some capsule probably spawned on you as you guys were attacking.
