waking up from rest?

Nope, think of it as massive endlag just like with any other move.

You sleep for exactly three seconds after resting. You cannot do anything about it in Melee. In Brawl you can fall into water and wake up.

That doesn't work, but just make sure that when you rest you actually hit. Three seconds is a very large chunk of time and a mistake as big as hitting a rest will, if you're playing a half-decent player, easily cost you a stock
