I need a little advice on combatting Zelda. I've read Rhyfelwyr's guide, and have been using the arrows the interrupt Din's Fire, allowing me to close in (when not trying to out predict his use of Nayru's Love), but my main issues have to with her physical attacks.

One thing in particular is Zelda's Fsmash and Usmash. I've read that a proper DI upward can get you out of the Fsmash, but has anybody found a way to escape the Usmash?

Also, my friend often resorts to shield grabbing a lot when I close in with a short hopped nair or dash attack. I've tried utilizing Pit's disjointed hitboxes with his ftilt to poke at the shield from a distance, but after that my friend'll usually just start rolling around alot until he gets a chance to hit me with a Fsmash or grab me. When he does this should I just retreat a distance, or does Pit have any particular moves that punish rolling? Also, if I'm missing any moves that help against shield grabbers, that'd be good to know, too.

To DI out of the F-smash you have to rapidly tap the control stick up. The U-smash doesn't have a set DI that works, you sorta have to wiggle the control stick and hope for the best. It isn't something to depend on.

Her smashes can be D-smashed out of a block on the ground. To avoid her U-smash from the air you'll have to air dodge.

It sounds like you have to use side-B and grabs more. Those will put a stop to any turtle strategies.

If he rolls away from you, shoot an arrow. If he rolls toward you, use side-B. If he rolls behind you, use D-smash.

i'll try to keep this simple since i just played some zeldas earlier. dodge the din's fires and shoot arrows to interrupt it but still shield anyway cuz they might have detonated it before they were hit by the arrows. her f-smash can be shielded then punished after so keep that in mind and shield the ENTIRE f-smash.. i got ***** a lot for not doing this. n-air -> jabs/u-tilt/grab/whatever ontop of her shield if you're getting shield grabbed a lot and if she keeps rolling just be patient and punish the roll lag.

think that pretty much covers it.. oh spacing is important for any match up ofcourse and your side b is great for catching zelda off guard when they're trying to din's fire camp you. just don't keep it out too long.

Thanks for the tips guys! Lately, I've been having the upper hand when it comes to our Pit vs Zelda matches. The side-b really makes him back off when we're in close quarters, and proper spacing and patience netted me numerous wins. And getting past the walls of Din's Fire feels like it's becoming even less of a problem thanks to Pit's great maneuverability.

I know this won't be the end of these battles, but I'd just like to say that these tactics are working very well and thank you guys.
